End of an era

Red Nev calls it a day so he can keep annoying Liverpool fans

G.Neville – loveable

It’s been a mental couple of months to be a Liverpool supporter.

First there’s those damn yanks, then some nice yanks, then Hodgson, then Dalglish, then Torres, then Suarez, then Carroll – head spinning times.

Now there’s another reason for Liverpool supporters to feel confused and agitated – Gary Neville has retired – HOORAY! But he might be a new Sky Sports pundit – BOO!

Yes, literally days after Sir Fergie said this…

“There has not been a decision about Gary Neville.

“We why make a decision about his future when we don’t need to? You don’t make decisions like that in the middle of the season.

“It’s a load of nonsense.”

…The handsome Neville Brother announces his retirement.

It’s been an emotional morning at Spoiler HQ as everyone took it in turns to reminisce about their favourite G.Neville moments – remember that goal he scored? Brilliant, wasn’t it?

Anyway, the one thing that really came through about G.Neville during our teary, rose-tinted morning was his hatred of absolutely ANYTHING that wasn’t Manchester United – Liverpool, Manchester City, puppies, soft furnishings – ANYTHING. He hated it all.

In all fairness though, he was a good player. When he wasn’t playing ten yards deeper than the rest of his defence, he was solid, dependable and not a game went by without a perceptive commentator saying: “Actually, I don’t think anyone else has noticed, but Gary Neville is a really good crosser of the ball.”

Above is G.Neville celebrating a goal against Liverpool. The voiceover comes courtesy of Richard Keys – the man Neville will definitely be replacing very, very soon.

Not sure if it’s been said but don’t quit your dayjob fernando. Can you explain the joke in more detail for me so I can pass it on to my mates?

Fernando, if your day job is a comedy writer or comedian I would seriously consider looking for a new vocation.

Now Gneville has retired from trying to play football, he’ll have more time to apply for planning permission to build his eco friendly George Jetson house.

And, I say quit your day job Fernando and follow your dream. With sick burns like that, you could easily write for the Romford Gazette.
