Apologies chaps. I thought that La Liga followed the same model as the EPL now, in splitting the TV rights fairly amongst the league. So yeah, definitely still a monopoly between the top two. I must concede defeat on this occasion! :D

I'm not a United fan, but I thought Fergie's positive comments on the Bundesliga's setup were refreshing. Lowering ticket prices and bringing back the terraces I feel would be a good change for the EPL

So one more winner means La Liga 'pisses all over' the EPL?? Really???

If he went back further than 92-93 EPL would Piss all over La Liga and if you really think more teams have a chance in La Liga...can I have some of what your smoking?

haha, Roberto. Didn't the top two finish 30 points about the 3rd last year in La Liga? The Premier League is not the most competitive, but the fair splitting of tv rights, the squad size limits and such rules mean that the teams are becoming more and more competitive.

In Spain, Barca and Madrid don't share the tv rights fairly, so every year, the league becomes less and less fair.

The premier league is a a marathon that only a few sides can really finish. La Liga is an obstacle course for Barca and Madrid.

@ Roberto and M

Whilst there has been one more league winner in spain than in the EPL since 92/93 it's clear to see that there's more competition for top spots in the EPL right now.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are always miles ahead of their nearest rivals whereas there are more teams getting close to the top in the EPL and less difference between points.

@ heavyriffs

I think you miss Roberto's point. He states that the above comments are invalid because his facts prove so.

"In any likelihood, there will be other future winners and not just the old Sky four".
That's a very brash statement, based on absolutely no facts whatsoever.

@Roberto

I think you miss the point that the comments were making, City and Spurs have increased competition at the top table. So in all likelihood, there will be other future winners and not just from the old Sky four.

1 kel // Feb 22, 2011 at 12:28 pm - EXACTLY!!

Do we want the EPL to end up like that sh*t La Liga?! 2 teams only ever win!! Serie A is predictable too.

EPL - Best in the world because there's sooo many good teams in it! Unlike 1 or 2 good teams.. Then the rest is sh*t!!!
