Make money on The Champions League Final II

Tonight hardly boasts the most exciting games of football you’re ever likely to see. Manchester United will draw 0-0 with Marseille and Arsenal will scrape a win at Stoke (you can have them for free), but over in Europe, there’s a cracking game between last season’s Champions League finalists Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

Here’s what our soothsaying chums at Betfair Football reckon will happen…

Prior to Saturday’s unconvincing 1-0 victory over Cagliari, all six of Leonardo’s home games in charge of Inter Milan had not only featured over 2.5 goals but over 3.5, and another high-scoring contest is to be expected in tonight’s 2009-10 Champions League Final repeat against Bayern Munich.

Admittedly, their meeting in Madrid last May provided just two goals yet both teams have shown this season that their greatest strengths lie in attack, boasting the best records in their leagues (joint in Bayern’s case) despite sitting third in the table. This is also a far less nervy and cagey environment to collide in, and odds of 2.06 on three or more goals look very appealing.

Bayern finally have Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery fit at the same time and the consequence has been seven goals in two games for the Bundesliga champions, with Mario Gomez continuing to be the main source with an incredible 26 strikes in his last 22 appearances. He is 3.25 to net again.

Inter meanwhile have a few problems going forward with last year’s hero Diego Milito still injured and January acquisition Giampaolo Pazzini ineligible having featured for Sampdoria in the qualifiers, however Wesley Sneijder is fit and Samuel Eto’o is joint-top tournament goalscorer on seven. It’s 2.62 that he adds to that tally this evening.

The Nerazzurri have won seven European matches in a row at the San Siro, beating the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona in that stretch so are a tempting proposition at 2.5, yet this is Leonardo’s first continental clash as their trainer, and he failed to win any of his four there for AC Milan.

Louis van Gaal’s side will therefore be optimistic about gaining revenge at 3.2 and they carry more momentum into the tie as Inter’s last few performances have been uninspiring. Bayern lost to a less intimidating Roma team in November though, so Inter’s home form still leads us to lean towards them at 2.5.
