Absolutely mental weekend 2: Rooney ELBOWS someone

Good to see though, innit? That’s the sort of passion you need to be a brilliant player. If you’re not prepared to elbow someone in the head after SEVEN MINUTES of a run-of-the-mill league game then you’re not fit to wear the shirt.

In all seriousness though, a couple of papers are reporting Wayne Rooney could be set for a four game ban for elbowing James McCarthy – not what United need heading into the final few weeks of the season…

He’s not exactly been excellent or even average this season, but Rooney is absolutely integral to the way United set up for games against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal. Could it give the Gunners a sniff of a chance?

Fergie doesn’t think there’s anything doing though, and blames the bloody media for the fact that Wayne elbowed James McCarthy in the head.

“There is nothing in it. But what will happen, because it is Wayne Rooney, is the press will raise a campaign to get him hung by Tuesday or electrocuted or something like that. It is unbelievable. Watch the press. It will be interesting to see it.”

What rubbish.

Here’s a poll…

WHY nobody yet asked the question ‘WHY Rooney did it?’, other Wigan players as well as elbowed don’t make a big fuss about it,…, like they knew it was coming…something he earned off the pith?

You must have been joking. Of course Rooney got away with it. No ref or the FA will dare upset SIR Alex. Don’t you know he’s God and Rooney is The Son?

Hmm, mike. Surely you aren’t suggesting that something fishy is going on when Wigan play United?

@elcynico — The only ref that would dare upset Sir Alex, is Martin Atkinson, who seems to do a fairly nice job of it on a fairly regular basis.
