That’s one way to reduce the wage bill…
We’re saying nowt…
One thing’s for sure – Kolo Toure definitely hasn’t been slipped something by Manchester City in a massive conspiracy to reduce their wage bill and pull them in line with the upcoming UEFA regulations.
And while we’re at it, people need to stop those sarky comments about him definitely not being on performance enhancing drugs because he’s been a bit rubbish and stuff.
Anyway, as you probably know by now, Kolo Toure has been suspended indefinitely by City after he failed a drugs test because he had a ‘specified substance’ in his wee that wasn’t wee…
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) says that:
“Generally speaking, ‘specified substances’ are substances that are more susceptible to a credible, non-doping explanation. The sanction under the World Anti-Doping Code can go from a warning to a two-year ban.”
Basically, it means that K. Toure will probably be back playing sooner rather than later as a ‘specified substance’ can be found in cold cures and dietary supplements.
He could be banned for two years, but Paddy Kenny was banned for nine months for a similar offence, while Hamilton midfielder Simon Mensing was given just a month for having another specified substance in his wee.
So, whatever happens, we reckon he’ll be back playing before Christmas. What are your thoughts on the matter?
