They've been replaced by the Bundesliga because the latter teams have done well in the EL, a tournament which Italian teams care less about. In the CL the Italian teams have still performed better than the Germans.

As for Inter, they won because they had the best defence in the world, quality offensive playmaker like Sneijder, and one of that season's absolute best strikers in Milito. After being out of luck for so many years it was their turn. They might not have managed to hold Barca down at Camp Nou without Mou, but other than that they were good enough to reach that level.

They are also the only Italian team that doesn't have fundamental weakness at the moment, which is why Milan will go out tonight. The attack is quality, but it's weaker without Cassano, and the defence is just too weak and won't match the enthusiasm of Spurs at WHL.

Spurs to go through on 1-1. Sadly, Italian teams don't have it in them anymore on the European stage. As much as I hate Mourinho, Inter did well b/c of him last year. No Italian team looks like too much of a threat.

They've already been replaced by the Bundesliga. Maybe Ligue 1 is next? (And this is coming from a Juve fan.)
