Little girl takes direct hit in Belgian league match
Don’t laugh. OK, laugh.
Having shed its propensity for being the playground in which European countries chose to have their after-school fights, modern Belgium is now a relaxed, amiable sort of place where you can sample a nice beer and some chocolate, and then go and spend a lazy afternoon passing laws which will inevitably infuriate The Sun and the Daily Mail.
However, the sleepy country was rocked by some of the most devastating and harrowing scenes in its recent history on Sunday, when, during a match between Standard Liege and Germinal Beerschot, a little girl was smacked in the face by a stray ball. Oh, the humanity!
