Rafa Benitez is going to replace Jose Mourinho again. Maybe

HIM?! AGAIN?! Really!?

Rafa Benitez had a pretty difficult job replacing Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan. The Portuguese had just won Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Nerazzurri’s first European Cup/Champions League title since 1965. Benitez was also given about €2.87 to spend on new players.

It’s easy enough to say that all he had to was not eff things up completely, but it ain’t all that easy when the players were blubbing like an X Factor contestant singing a song about a blind puppy when Mourinho left.

Anyway, according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez hasn’t been put off by Benitez’s rubbish time at Inter and fancies him to take over from Jose in the summer…

Onda Cero reckon Pérez already has a pre-contract agreement with Benitez – who managed Real Madrid B from 1993-5 – with regards to replacing Mourinho if the Special One leaves.

Considering only Vicente del Bosque has managed two consecutive full years in the Real Madrid hot seat since Leo Beenhakker’s reign from 1986-89, there’s a distinct possibility of that happening.

It’s PROBABLY a load of absolute gibberish wrapped in nonsense and simmered with some claptrap until its extra bull-shitty, but there are a lot of rumours circulating about the former Liverpool boss at the min.

Benitez has also been linked with a move back to Valencia. He won two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup during his stint in charge of the Spanish side and several sources think Valencia president Manuel Llorente wants Benitez to replace current coach Unai Emery. Hmm…

So, the beautifully bearded Benitez looks set to come in from the cold sooner rather than later – Have you missed him?

Argh. Keep the fat Spanish waiter where he is! Even if he had money in the transfer window and had control of who it was spent on–we’ve all seen Rafa’s spending habits in the past. Buy 1 good player for ever 6 bad players. Funny–he left Inter, Leonardo takes over, and they start doing massively better. There’ve got to be other managers out there better to manage Real Madrid.

Don’t get me wrong. Some of what Rafa did with Liverpool was great. But winning the Champions League and then finishing behind Everton in the Premier League? Supposedly best team in Europe but not even in their own city? It’s something that makes you cringe (but then you remember you won the Champions League and I guess it makes you feel better). I just don’t think he’ll be any improvement on Real Madrid over Mourinho. As much as I hate Mourinho, the man has a record of going to clubs and winning.

Rafa won’t have too much to offer Valencia either. Domestically, 3rd is as good as it’s going to get for any team that’s not Real Madrid or Barcelona for some time. For Valencia to do as well as they are with the loss of Villa and Silva both of in the same year is remarkable. It was unfortunate for them to lose to Schalke, but hopefully they don’t hold that completely against Emery–they probably would’ve gone out against Inter anyways. Valencia have a good and promising young team with players like Mata, Alba, Hernandez, Banega, etc. I look forward to seeing how they progress in the coming years.

big woop rafa got 2 million only for transfer targets at inter. mourinho left him a treble winning team. there should be no reason to even buy a single player if you have a treble winning team. he even lost to atletico madrid in that gimmick cup thing.
