Man Utd v Chelsea stuff

Man Utd are through. Torres is rubbish. Giggs is brilliant

That was more like it, wasn’t it? After a pretty boring couple of days in the normally mental world of football, Man Utd’s win over Chelsea at least threw up a few talking points.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest talking points is how good Ryan Giggs is. Now THAT is boring isn’t it? Every sodding week – Giggs is amazing. Giggs is brilliant. How does he do it? At 37! Blah, blah, blah… He is great, mind… the sexy swine.

Anyway, Giggs WAS excellent (he still can’t head the ball, though). Park Ji-Sung was fantastic and scored a very nice goal, Javier Hernandez is basically Ole Gunnar Solskjaer II (except he scores when he starts), Michael Carrick is doing his job very well and Wayne Rooney actually looks like he’s enjoying himself again…

Things are pretty w*nk for Chelsea at the moment, though. The plight of the Blues was probably best summed up by a fellow sat by The Spoiler in the pub who screamed:

“C’Mon! It’s on! I f*cking knew it!”

When Didier Drogba scored, before slumping back in his seat like a chubby inflatable doll with a puncture when Park scored about three seconds later.

Things do look relatively bad for the Blues at the moment. As loathe as we are to agree with Joey Barton, Frank Lampard looks like his best years are definitely behind him. While several other players (Malouda, Anelka and maybe even Essien) have been pretty ineffective for a while and continue to be so.

Somewhat controversially, The Spoiler doesn’t think the Torres issue is that big an issue. He’s been rubbish this season and was injured loads last term, but he’ll come good, mark our words.

Ancelotti looks like a dead man walking, which probably means another summer of spending and reshaping the squad. Which means another season of transition and probably another season without a Champions League title.

So, Man Utd are in the semi’s and will probably play Schalke. Will they win it? Will they do the treble? What’s the problem with Chelsea? Will Abramovich lose patience?

Patrice Evra has a nasty stain near his pocket.

Park may not be running but, even then, it does look like he’s having a brisk stroll

I’ve always thought Park is a bit of an underrated player. He’s a real workhorse for United. I was surprised when they didn’t include him in the final squad a few years back against Barca.

Despite losing to Chelsea in the league, Man United were always going through. They are like machines and can grind out results against the best of them. When they fall down, it’s a brief knock and then they get back up, unlike Chelsea/Arsenal/Man City. They’re not a team that gives up many opportunities. Here’s looking at you, Anelka. You have the keeper all the way out of his net on one of the biggest European nights of your career and you can’t somehow find a way to get the ball in or least somewhere near the net? And don’t get me started on the decision to start Torres. He may come good, but until he does, don’t start him ahead of Drogba on such big games!

Treble? No, not this year. Chicarito will put one through against Barca in the final because Barca look shaky at the back, but United will have 2 or 3 put past them.

Torres was getting back on track just before going to Chelsea. His form was improving under Dalglish because Kenny let Meireles roam around and get creative. That’s what Torres thrives on. I think he’s just not clicking with anyone because they are all off-form and have been since November. Ancelotti hasn’t been using any play-makers besides Lampard who has been crap for a while now. Now that they’re back from injury, put him in with Benayoun and Zhirkov and I think he’ll start soaking up all the wiley creative energy they can give off.
    My two cents.

Torres needs to leave at the end of the summer and go back to spain. This is not personal but he needs care and attention just like an antique
