I am a fan of neither team and a registered official

Hernandez - caution for the dive
Nani -caution for the dive
Lovenkrands - penalty

In England the referees need to have more balls to bring out the cards and recognize as the centre of world football the "cards ruin the game" schtick is out of date. The rules are their in writing and the players are paid millions so they should know them. At least this season most referees are starting to move past the old British mentality of went for the ball therefore the boot to the shin is acceptable (Phil Dowd (NUFC can physically assault Arsenal and get away with it ) and Martin Atkinson (Man City can break NUFC legs and get away with it) excepted).

Definitely not a penalty, but a harsh yellow card. Simpson's does flick out his leg (but pulls back in time), Hernandez seems to anticipate the contact, while trying to avoid the tackle. His fall looks as if he has anticipated a lot more contact from simpson (which there wasn't) and so it looks quite feeble.
All in all, good decision by the ref (though the yellow card caused unnecessary uproar).

Seriously? A "clear penalty." That is absurd. I believe that is Javier's second card for simulation this year, so sure, "He's not that type of player."

Sir Alex needs to learn from Arsene. "I didn't see it," would be a much better response than "clear penalty" and insult.

"Javier did an awkward jump trying to avoid stamping on Simpson’s feet."
He also did attempt to akwardly fly, akwardly fall, akwardly shout for penalty, and got akwardly denied.
Perhaps Javier isn't notorious for "simulation" yet, but United is more a swimming club than a football club.

Putting aside the fact that I'm an MUFC fan who watched the game in its entirety last night...and having watched the video closely this morning.... I say Javier did not deserve a yellow card. (I'd also say that the referee showed bias toward Newcastle throughout the game...but I'm afraid of the FA confiscating my remote and fining me a month's pay.) Now...back to the issue at hand...diving. The majority of dives involves bowed backs and arms outstretched. Javier did an awkward jump trying to avoid stamping on Simpson's feet. Javier is known for awkward acrobatics on the pitch...(remember the face goal early in the season). I agree 100% with Alex. Javier does not have a reputation for "simulation". (The ref missed Tiote's, Lovenkrands and Nani's dives...so punished Javier instead.)
