El Clasico fortnight is nearly over – BOO! Or is it YAY!?
Too much of a good thing?
A few weeks ago The Spoiler mocked our mother (God forgive us) for telling us that we had to have everything in moderation.
‘PAH!’ We said. ‘What does she know?’ Well, it turns out that maybe Mummy Spoiler does know a thing or two because, after three games between Real Madrid and Barcelona, we’ve – whisper it – had enough!
Surely we can’t be the only ones?
The 1-1 draw in the league was a bit ‘meh’ – Barca had all the possession but seemed content to take the draw and tiki-taka off.
The Copa del Rey final was a blummin’ good match, it was very evenly matched and produced a completely excellent headed goal from Cristiano Ronaldo. So far so good.
The Spoiler was intrigued rather than excited going into the last game though, and our cautiousness was proved correct (for once). The first hour was one of the least enjoyable things we’ve ever watched – to see two such talented teams being so niggly and cheaty and divey and… and… AARRRGHHH! IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING!
It was rescued somewhat by Messi’s brilliant goal (above) that had a hint of George Best against Sheffield Wednesday about it, but we had a very sour taste in our mouth afterwards.
That sour taste reached Hubba Bubba Atomic Apple proportions later on when Jose Mourinho went off on one, while Barca continued to play their Special Edition ‘Holier Than Thou’ Top Trump card.
If we were to make an ill-advised prediction, The Spoiler reckons tonight’s game will end in a draw before Mourinho decides to talk more sh*t. We’re just not that bothered about it.
Anyway, are we the only ones who are a bit fed up with it? (It should be added that there are members of Team Spoiler who reckon they could watch it every day).
Whaddya you reckon though? Let us know with a click and a comment below…
