Five excellent moments from Manchester United against Chelsea games

This isn’t even in it…

The Biggest Game of the Premier League season is happening at the weird time of 4.10pm on Sunday.

It’s going to be brilliant – there’ll be loads of build-up and tons of montages set to totally rocking music that sets the game up to be more like the most exciting war you’ve ever seen than a game of football. The match itself will probably be a bit timid and a massive let down.

Anyway, to build your expectations up before they’re knocked down, here are some good moments between Chelsea and Man Utd that The Spoiler remembers.

Manchester United win the double in 1994…

The double has been done so many times since this that it’s easy to forget how big an achievement it actually was for United to win the league and FA Cup . You know the goals, so here’s the players being interviewed after – featuring a smiling, goateed-up Roy Keane!

Gianfranco Zola’s goal from 1997…

Absolutely everyone loves Zola (who The Spoiler thinks looks a bit like a slightly uglier Fonzie) and this was a completely brilliant goal. He leaves Denis Irwin on his arse and then beats Peter Schmeichel at his near post – not many people were able to do that.

Manchester United win 5-3 in 1998…

Remember when David Beckham used to get abuse EVERYWHERE? Chelsea used to love giving it to him Рeven before the 1998 World Cup. Here he is scoring and doing the cupped-ears-say-whaaat? celebration  thing. Graeme Le Saux also scores a tremendous chip.

Chelsea beat United 5-0 in 1999…

United headed to Stamford Bridge as treble champions for this clash and were promptly d*cked 5-0. The Blues got off to a great start thanks to Gus Poyet’s first minute goal and Nicky Butt’s sending-off. They were also helped by a trademark Massimo Taibi flap and the Italian just generally existing.

Didier Drogba’s extra-time FA Cup final winner in 2007…

Bloody hell, this was a rubbish game. It looked to be heading to penalties before Drogba nicked it with a couple of minutes to go. It was a tidy goal and only improved by Edwin van der Saar blamming Rio Ferdinand.

There are definitely ones we’ve forgotten that are miles better than some of the ones above. Shout us down below…
