The Manchester All-Star team to take on the world!

Blue + Red = Purple, right?

Hey! Manchester is a vibrant modern city – there’s something for everyone! There’s over five Greggs bakeries! There’s a cinema! There’s even a big shopping centre with Topshop AND Zara!

However, there is one problem with this thriving metropolis – there isn’t a football team that can unite everyone. Manchester has loads of football teams. In fact, two of them are even in the Premier League – Manchester United and Manchester City.

So, The Spoiler was thinking, why not just merge them together? Everyone would love that and – what with United winning the league and City the FA Cup – they could be amazing and take over the world…

Here’s the team we’ve gone for…

We’ve plumped for Edwin van der Saar in goal because the thought of uniting this great city would definitely make him carry on for a while longer. He’s still better than Joe Hart.

Rafael is right-back because, well, who else is going to play there? Micah Richards? Basically, the United back-four is good enough for us – Vincent Kompany is close, but the Vidic and Ferdinand partnership is far too good to split up.

The Spoiler loves Valencia and he has come back from injury amazingly well, so he’s in. Nigel de Jong would hold while Yaya Toure played a ‘little’ further forward. Ryan Giggs doesn’t quite make this starting line-up but it was a tactically astute toss of a coin that decided it.

David Silva gets a tentative nod, although we’d put a consoling arm around Nani and tell him his time would definitely come.

There are about a zillion strikers who we’d love to pick but, because we weren’t sure how to change the formation on Photoshop from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3, we’re going for two up top with Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez. However, if they go more than 45 minutes without a goal they’re out on their arses.

What do you reckon? Obviously this team is pretty perfect but, if you HAD to change something, what would it be?

couldn’t change anything here, so long as Park Ji Sung is at the very least on the bench.
This is their line up against the London All-Stars team then?

Well considering Man Utd won the league and Man City are going to finish third, surely it should be the complete Man Utd team.

I’d have Hernandez over Tevez. Giggs over De Yong. Nani over Silva.. the only city player I’d have is Yaya Toure.

And George and P.. Kompany.. he’s a good player but I’d never ever start him over Rio or Vids.
