Everyone to Chelsea, Bendtner to Bayern Munich and more

Katy Perry – sparkly

Apparently, Russell Brand hasn’t been allowed into Japan to watch his wife, Katy Perry, on tour because of his criminal record. It’s been a bad couple of weeks for Mr Brand who also saw his football team – West Ham United – get relegated.

Speaking of London football teams who’ve had a bad time of things recently… Most of today’s gossip is centred around who the next Chelsea boss is going to be.

After the jump there is some not very surprising news for you courtesy of the troops at the tabloids and the battalions at the broadsheets…

The Telegraph goes with Guus Hiddink AND Marco van Basten, The Daily Mail reckons Jose Mourinho (!) while everyone else seems to be reporting that Hiddink is the favourite but he’s unlikely to join – which tells us very little, really.

In other manager-related news, The Daily Mirror says Dave Jones is probably in a meeting right about now to tell the Cardiff City owners he needs to buy a shed-load of players this summer. They will probably tell him to bugger off.

Jones is one of the favourites to take over at newly-relegated West Ham and, having shown he can produce play-off contending sides on a relatively small budget, we reckon Brady, Gold and Sullivan will do all they can to get their grubby mitts on him.

Arsenal fans will be losing no sleep whatsoever over the fact that Nicklas Bendtner is spoiling for a move. His Daddy had this to say to The Mirror:

“Nicklas is 100 per cent open now to a change of clubs. He has made his decision and he has told it to Arsenal.

“Nicklas needs to be playing from the start so, sadly, he must leave. He wanted to finish the season first, so no-one could say he didn’t fight for a first-team place right until the end.”

“There is real interest from both English and German clubs, and Bayern Munich were after him, earlier. It’s very exciting.”

It sounds very much like he’s on his way and we can’t imagine there are too many Arsneal fans devastated by this – especially if Wenger actually spends the money he gets. The Spoiler fancies that’ll be about £8 million in the kitty.

I wonder what the chances that Rafa Benitez comes to Chelsea? He could revitalize El Nino in turn in back into what he was for the Mighty Reds. Not a Chelsea fan but some interesting food for thought…

Bendtner going to Bayern for some playing time? Seriously? If you’re not getting it at Arsenal, you are most definitely not going to get it there. Try going to Stoke (or insert other mid-table squad) for some playing time!

These want-aways always ask for 1) more playing time, at a 2) more competitive team, at 3) higher wages. Bendtner has picked a bad time to move, since the transfer market is in the process of driving out the “middle class” players and he will only get one of those 3. Transfer prices for top players are still going higher, but no one wants to spend big transfer money on players like him. It’s too bad, because he has made significant contributions over the past couple of seasons.
