Well done to Premier League new boys Swansea City!
Cymru am Byth
Bloody hell… that was a game of football wasn’t it? Swansea City became the first Welsh team to make the Premier League thanks to their 4-2 win over Reading yesterday.
There were loads of good things about the game and it has almost completely restored The Spoiler’s faith in the beautiful game after all the ugly stuff going on with all those corrupt* £$%”s at FIFA.
In fairness, Barcelona made a pretty good start on Saturday, but the icing was applied by several very nice things about Swansea and their victory…
Firstly, the Swans approached the final as they have every game this season – by trying to play football. It didn’t quite work as well as it has done for a majority of the season, but it was nice to see the likes of Leon Britton and Joe Allen knocking it about midfield in such an important game.
Scott Sinclair is pretty good as well.
Secondly, they had the decency to make it bloody exciting. 3-0 up after the first-half, they allowed Reading back into it at 3-2 and nearly conceded an equaliser – only the post and an blummin’ excellent block from skipper Gary Monk stopped Reading ‘doing an Istanbul’ as everyone is now obliged to say.
Lastly, the Swans were completely gracious in victory. Brendan Rodgers was consoling the Reading players and the t-shirt tribute to Swansea player Besian Idrizaj who died last year aged 22 was very brilliant.
Well done, Swansea and – as someone quicker than The Spoiler noted – swapping Birmingham for Swansea in the Premier League is no bad thing.
Tidy.
