good start
England get a draw against Spain – encouraging signs?
A very tidy finish…
England U21s got their European Championship campaign off to a pretty decent start with a 1-1 draw with Spain.
They trailed for much of the game thanks to a Herrera Ander strike in the 14th minute before Danny Welbeck scored a very neat goal with just two minutes remaining.
By all accounts, Stuart Pearce’s men were outplayed for a majority of the game but Spain were just unable to finish it off. Still, a draw in the opening game against the tournament favourites (with Jackie Wilshere and Andy Carroll missing) is a pretty decent start, no?
