if we can get this deal done then our front two strikers are the target man DEMBA BA and a fast Clinical Striker In ERDINC. I think thats a good partnership up front.

The 2nd striker we buy needs to be quick and play on the last defender to make runs when Ba holds up the ball, kind of like a young OWEN or how GAMEIRO plays for LORIENT, unfortuantatly he did not want to come to us!!

A LIST OF AVAILABLE FORWARDS:

ROBBIE KEANE, SHANE LONG, JAY BOTHROYD, CROUCH, CARLTON COLE, ZIGIC, SULEJMANI, DEFOE, ARSHAVIN, BENDTNAR,

If NEWCASTLE realllllyyy wanted to challenge then even ADEBAYOR or BERBATOV???

GET RID of Lovenkrands OR ameobi OR RANGER OR ALL OF THEM!!!

as LEON BEST could be good cover, he proved himself last season with goals against westham and arsenal! SHANE LONG, he's not proven enough! dont go in for him!

List

Then we need one more WINGER, 1st choice NZOGBIA. 2nd BARNETTA. 3rd CANALES youngester from real madrid

one more CENTRE MIDEFIELDER , weve been linked with Mblaisie, Sissoko and we had a bid rejected for Emana.

our Defence proved solid last year and Colo is much improved, so is williamson, Taylor is a threat from corners, still need that fourth cover CB prehaps neil Taylor can play there aswell as LB COVER because we need to keep ENRIQUe, dont leave him 2 last minute to replace

Our GK department is also good and does not need investment in that area as we have 2 great prospects in krul and foster and Harper proved himself last year!!

Derek, you cant say they were a weaker side because tiote, TAYLOR and nolan were suspended. theres no doubt hughton had to deal with suspensions and injuries of his own thats part and parcel of being a manager. and enrique being disinterested is also not an excuse. this list of yours that supposedly can go on and on is not very convincing. thinnest squad in the premier league? give me a break!

Andy,

1) I'm no Pards apologist and am reserving judgement on him to wait and see how he does with a full season. That being said, I'm sorry but you couldn't be anymore one sided. Like Michael said, Pardew got more points/game than Hughton and he did this with arguably the thinnest squad in the Prem and most def the weakest strike force. No Carroll; Tiote, Raylor, and Nolan suspensions; Willo and Best injuries. Not to mention Enrique seemed disinterested the second half of the season and was far less effective. The list could go on but the bottom line is that he had a weaker squad to work with than Chris did. The defense was incredibly porous under Hughton and while some immediate exceptions spring to mind (Arsenal and the last 30mins against WBA, which also would have seen them finish 9th and make your argument null and void), I did think they looked a bit better under Pards as well.

2)Charlton was a disaster but he left West Ham and Southampton in better shape than he got them. To simply point at his firings without asking why is short sighted. If you were a Birmingham supporter would you point to Hughton as being shite since he clearly wasn't good enough and was fired from his last job? Of course not.

I'm not saying I'm totally convinced that Alan is the answer but I do feel he's done enough with a thin squad and disastrous back-office to have earned some time before passing judgement. Let's see how he does this year before we jump to conclusions, shall we?

And as has been noted in comments above more poignantly, it's easy to see how those qualities made him an attractive option to Mike Ashley, despite his recent dismissal from a League One club!

Re: list of PL signings, the only ones not included in the calculations above are the ones yet to leave West Ham or Newcastle (ie the guys just signed), so...

Danny Gabbidon (signed for around £2 million, may leave for free this summer)

Jonathan Spector (signed for £500k, may leave for free this summer)

Robert Green (signed for £2 million, likely to go for at least double that)

Carlton Cole (signed for around £2 million, could recoup three times that)

So there will almost certainly be a profit on those purchases and it's also worth noting that each of those guys have lasted five or six years, averaging 28 PL appearances each last season, so proved to have a long-term worth to the club.

As I mentioned above, and you have elaborated on more critically, Pardew clearly isn't one of the top managers in the Premier League, but when it comes to the transfer market, he's earned the right to be shown a bit of trust.

Michael

We finished 12th in the BPL which is where we were when Hoots was sacked for "not having enough experience" !!!

Pardwho is a "journeyman" manager of that there is no doubt. His transfer dealings may well have been successful overall (btw I'd like to see a complete list of every player he bought during Premier League stints at West Ham and Charlton ) however, as has been pointed out he's not in a position to affect signings as much at NUFC.

Although much has been made of the fact that NUFC has brought in 3 players for a combined, approximate fee of £4m unfortunately success in the BPL is not based upon how much money is saved otherwise we'd be up there with the best of them
