Thank you for the update Michael. It is much harder to continually create new content than people on the outside think, so time to get away during the, wildly short, offseason is understandable.

You have a significant audience though, and you would be well served to take part in the conversation with them...

So, by "other exciting projects", you are essentially admitting that The Spoiler is playing second fiddle to your other jaunts? Well done.

Hi. Here's a mini State of The Spoiler address as some have requested.

Unfortunately, the site won't be too active over the next few weeks as we work on other exciting projects ahead of the start of the season.

Yes, a decision was taken to focus on statistics more, though we will attempt to strike a balance so that things don't become too serious. And yes, I'll steer clear of Excel for a bit too!

Richard is very much still Mr Spoiler and has - you will see if you look back - been posting over the last few weeks, though he too won't be around as much as usual over the summer.

Come on guys, they are probably just taking a holiday because nothing much is happening.

Premier League teams are putting on their annual exhibitions for the Asian and/or American audiences and all that's left is transfer talk. We're all big boys and know that transfer talk can be comfortably put in one of 3 categories:
1) drawn out sagas developing painfully slowly, maybe not at all (Fabregas)
2) pure speculation (who will Mansour buy next?)
3) nonsense PR manufactured by creeps (Tevez to Corinthians).

There isn't much that we haven't already talked about. You already have your opinion on Downing (finally) moving to Liverpool! We all know Barcelona are being rude to Arsenal! And we're all aware that some people may think that Wenger is doing a similar thing, albeit on a smaller scale, to Everton.

All that said, it would be nice to see what the Spoiler commenters make of Rio warning some of Man United's other defenders to not be in awe of him. I suppose it's hard to not be in awe of people that take such professional-looking pictures of themselves http://shop.rioferdinand.com/

Off the Post/Dirty Tackle are quickly becoming my favorite blogs, which is sad because I used to look forward so much to this blog. RA was hilarious, gave some useful insight when the situation dictated but offered a completely different experience than other similar blogs. One (i think) post this whole week, and like two posts all summer I've actually enjoyed is just embarrassing.

These posts are beginning to make your subhead - 'The most influential football blog of the decade' - look very noughties. Because it won't be true of this decade unless the editorial situation gets cleared up very soon. So close to unsubscribing. So sad :-(
