Okay, so Sunderland and Wolves look less like top-ten material than this year’s X Factor finalists, but The Spoiler is fairly pleased with how our ten pre-season predictions are looking as the halfway point approaches.

One of our shrewder prophecies was that despite showing ambition in the summer transfer window, Luis Enrique’s bid to build an Italian Barcelona would be unsuccessful. For the project to succeed, Roma fans needed to show patience, but unsurprisingly they are already fed up.

Their discontent is understandable, with hopes of a Champions League place swiftly crushed, their Europa League campaign lasting two games and five wins earned in 13 Serie A outings compared to six defeats, five coming in their last eight.

When times are tough, the last thing you want is a team you hate strolling into your stadium with ambitions of returning to the top of the table and confidence that they will do just that encouraged by six victories in seven away matches against them.

Juventus haven’t lost all season and having toppled the more impressive of the capital clubs, Lazio, at the Stadio Olimpico last month, they will be fearless about tonight’s task, and determined to punish AC Milan for their stutter.

Juventus are 11/8 to beat Roma on Betfair – click here to claim a £25 free bet when opening an account.
