Says emotional man who mistakenly thought Ramos was going to share his English pounds with him

Not everyone, it seems, is pleased that Juande Ramos has got himself a big fat job in England. At his old club Sevilla, for “not everyone” read “no one”. The latest of his old friends to take to the papers to describe their good mate’s shabby attitude is his former agent, a Mr Torres, who wrongly assumed he would be getting a taste of whatever currency they use at Spurs.

“He turned his back on me, the same as he did to the fans and the press,” he sniffed, “because he didn’t give us any explanation of why he left.” Presumably a football agent, as adept as sniffing out profit as the finest truffling pig, shouldn’t have too hard a time working out why, but this Mr Torres is one hurt Spaniard. “He’s a good coach, but a bad person,” he sobbed, “AND I”LL TELL HIM THAT WHEN I SEE HIM.”

Mr Torres says that the treacherous Ramos told him one morning that the Spurs thing was just a rumour, then by the afternoon he was on a plane to London and hasn’t been in touch since. But no one treats the great Torres with such contempt, and so the case will creep its way through the Spanish legal system in search of justice.

“He hasn’t called me,” the agent droned on, rapidly using up the little sympathy any judge might have for one of his trade. “But that’s his problem. It’s just him and his conscience. If he has one.” Meow!
