God help us all if Joey Barton ever discovers skating

During yesterday’s Florida Panthers/ Buffalo Sabres NHL bout, we were all given a stark reminder of the dangers involved in combining two really sharp blades with a violent contact sport. Panthers forward Richard Zednik took a potentially-fatal high kick to the neck from a teammate, and was immediately taken to hospital. Amazingly, the game continued, despite there being a few pints of Zednik’s red stuff on the ice.

At present Zednik is said to be recovering from surgery in hospital.
