Third Test, Friday 21st, 10pm, bet here
Exciting developments in the world of organ transplants: people receiving the transplanted organs have been found to take on the personalities of the donors. After receiving the kidney of a brainy person, soap fan Cheryl Johnson, 37, suddenly found herself more interested in Egyptology and the novels of Dostoevsky. A woman previously terrified of heights became a climber after a transplant, and a child who received the heart of a murder victim suddenly started having terrible nightmares (expect horror franchise on this theme shortly.)
The England cricket team in New Zealand was also just one game away from needing an emergency talent transplant as a last throw of the dice - their ability to play competitively was on life support - yet miraculously they pulled through in the last test. The next stage is to find a cure for the syndrome by which players slotted into the national team wake up to find their talent surgically removed. Nurse - the screens!
The statistics
* New Zealand have only beaten England seven times from eighty-nine test matches. England have won forty-two of those.
* England’s victory in the last test was their first test win for nine months.
* The last time there was a three match series between England and New Zealand, in which New Zealand won the first test and England won the second, the final test was a draw. That was thirty years ago.
