United Gaffer’s nonsense comments come back to haunt him

Alex Ferguson

March 2008: Alex Ferguson is the first to support the FA’s Respect Campaign following Ashley Cole’s controversial booking at White Hart Lane:

“Haranguing referees is ridiculous. Since the Andy D’Urso incident some years ago, we have not done anything like that. Respect for referees is absolutely correct.”

April 2008: Manchester Utd players ‘harangue’ referee Alan Wiley for awarding Chelsea a perfectly legitimate penalty, and eight of Fergie’s men face FA Disciplinary charges for abusing fourth official Mike Riley in the tunnel.

legitimate penalty…yes course it was…i hope the linesman (who had been giving offside decisions in 1st half against utd when the players clearly werent) who was obviously BOUGHT by Mr A’s money will sleep well in his new villa on the costas( a gift of course). And what about mr Ballack dragging down ronaldo, not a penalty i suppose. Video playback is needed to stop the corruption before the game is ruined.

I dont think the legitimacy of the decisions is the point, footballfan. It’s that Fergie talks out of his a*se.

What rubbish footballfan. Carrick was a long way from where the ball was kicked and made no effort to remove his arm. Completely legitimate penalty, and only a bitter united fan could come up with such rubbish (I thought it was only Arsenal who complained about decisions?!). As for Ballack “dragging down” ronaldo; (a) that happens every week in nearly every game (b) surely to drag him down he would have had to pull him off his feet, which certainly didn’t happen. Fergie has been shown for what he is, a dreadful hypocrite.

Embarrassing. Stonewall penalty. Ferguson’s become like Benitez in the week moaning about shoves and cornerkicks. Wiley was excellent. The referres in both Chelsea’s games (Champs League and Sat) have been excellnt start to finish. Some of the best referre’ing we’ve seen all year. Except of course both refs should have sent off Drogba for being an utter c*nt

Taggart wont quit until he wins another CL.

Sadly, United wont do that in his lifetime…
