Much is made of the dangers of “trying too hard” in sport; anyone with the patience to sit through any of the snooker will be familiar with the perils of “snatching” at a shot. You relax, ball goes in. You try too hard, ball rattles around in the jaws and you sit down for half an hour while Ronnie O’Sullivan shows you how it’s done. Not much chance of West Ham over-trying this weekend. They’ve been becalmed in mid-table all season, and with their bonus for finishing in the top half guaranteed, they’ve had the squawk of seagulls and the scent of Ambre Solaire in their nostrils since Christmas. But if relaxation is the key to success, there can only be one winner in the Man Utd/ West Ham beach party this weekend. And it’s not the ones with the red towels.
For 21 reasons why West Ham will win, read on. Disagree? Then get some money on United, clever clogs.
1. West Ham have won their last three encounters with Manchester United.
2. It may seem unthinkable for a team to beat Manchester United in four straight Premier League matches, but it has been done (Liverpool, 2000-2002).
3. West Ham have won three of their last six visits to Old Trafford.
4. Manchester United have only won one of their last four Premier League games.
5. The Hammers have played a huge part in costing Manchester United the title twice in recent years.

To me these look like reasons why we, Manchester United will beat West Ham. We have prepared hard for this game for the reasons you have mentioned. We are not playing the past three games or any one of them but this is a new game and will bring a new result.
