Blues fans not keen on witnessing the biggest game in their history

Thinking of trotting off to the Luzhniki Stadium next week for the Champions league final? You may want to give it a few days, as the ticket prices are likely to tumble right down to face value.
A Spoiler informant bought tickets for the final through official UEFA channels before the semi-finals were decided. As a Liverpool fan, said informant no longer wanted to trek all the way behind the Iron Curtain, so yesterday he rang a ticket agency to try to sell the tickets on. He was told that he would only get face value (around £100) for them, as Chelsea had returned 5,000 tickets on Monday morning and demand was pretty low.
I rang a few ticket agencies this morning, and the best offer I could get was £650 per ticket (a lot cheaper than the £6,000 being quoted recently).
Obviously, the greedy touts denied any knowledge of supply exceeding demand when I made my enquiries, but give it a few days and the panicked sellers will be offloading them for something a lot closer to the price of a hot dog at Wembley.
It’s almost unthinkable to imagine a team being unable to sell their entire Champions League final ticket allocation, but due to the reticence of the Stamford Bridge faithful and the negative press surrounding travel arrangements, this embarrassing prospect is quite realistic.

You couldn’t make it up - oh, wait a minute, you have - Chelsea have sold their allocation but I believe United still have a few left if you’re interested in going.
2 Robbie // May 13, 2008 at 9:16 am
Unfortunately Chelsea season ticket holders have been in the uneviable position of having to cough up for next year’s season tickets by the 15th May . . . the club have only just recognised this issue and at the weekend extended the deadline . . . but the minimum grand for the Moscow trip and £750 for a season tciket is a hell of a lot of money to find in one month . . . add to that British Airways and other flight operators have been blatantly profiteering . . . I myself went on the BA website at 8am the day after we beat Liverpool . . . I was quoted £1300 for a business class return flight . . . by 2.0pm the same day when I’d made my mind up I went back to book the BA flight only to find taht the rpice had been jacked up to £1800 . . . that’s a disgrace. The other issue is the lack of hotel accomodation out in Moscow . . . the place was sold out weeks ago . . . frankly UEFA have cocked up big time on venue selection . . . and it’s not the first.

Chelsea have sold their allocation Norman? You can still buy tickets in their end.
4 Makelelele // May 13, 2008 at 9:23 am
Why make up rubbish like this? Chelsea have sold out there allocation for the CL final. United STILL HAVENT SOLD OUT, WHY NOT HAVE A DIG AT THEM? The hate for Chelsea is truly disgusting.
5 Ukild Yerone // May 13, 2008 at 9:25 am
A Scouser lying about Chelsea?! What a surprise. The only people who should return tickets are the thieving Liverpool scum who were captured live on TV in Athens stealing match tickets from old men and kids. Anyway, la’, Mos-go!
6 Jim Morrison // May 13, 2008 at 9:27 am
Ahh, if you bothered to check with Chelsea before posting rubbish like this then you would find out that Chelsea have sold out, they did so days ago. Unlike United who still have tickets left.
What I dont understand is why have a go at Chelsea? Did you believe that they hadnt sold out? or were you just making it up for the fun of it? I just checked the united site and they still got a large number of tickets left yet you mention none of that. No, you decide to have a go at the team that actually sold out all their tickets. Bizarre
7 Upminster Iron // May 13, 2008 at 9:29 am
Bit of a chip on your shoulder Chelsea fans? Must be hard to take that normally everyone hates the champions for being the best but for the first time ever, the runners-up are even more unpopular!
8 Not a scouser // May 13, 2008 at 9:31 am
I dont understand this article. Daily Mail just reported that its United who are struggling to sell out their tickets while Chelsea sold out on Monday morning. Who is lying here?
9 Chelsea blue // May 13, 2008 at 9:33 am
From the Chelsea site:
Chelsea’s allocation of tickets for the Champions League Final is now SOLD OUT
10 Scott // May 13, 2008 at 9:35 am
Oh dear, what a surprise, the ‘media’ (I guess this has to be used loosely with this site in mind) have chosen a negative, made up story for a dig at Chelsea.
Now, perhaps it would be better in the future if you checked your facts. I’ll list them below with spaces so it’s easier for you to understand.
-Chelsea have sold out their 21,000 allocation.
-Man Utd, the club which could have supposedly sold over 100,000 have not sold out their allocation.
Read, read again and repeat, perhaps it’ll stick.
11 Ryan Bailey // May 13, 2008 at 9:43 am
There are sites saying Manchester Utd have sold all their tickets and some saying they haven’t, and the same goes for Chelsea. It depends if you wish to believe the party line being sold by each club.
The story is merely based on information given by the ticket agency yesterday morning.
Have a go at getting some tickets now, you will be able to and they are getting cheaper.
12 chirs // May 13, 2008 at 9:44 am
if it is true that utd havent sold out their allocation does anyonw know where you can buy tickets?
13 Jim Grant // May 13, 2008 at 9:44 am
No beating about the bush - you’re a contemptible bloody liar. And a thieving scouse twat into the bargain. (Oh, you don’t like that second comment? Well, it’s probably as accurate as your so-called article.)
14 Chelsea blue // May 13, 2008 at 9:49 am
What sites`? If you bother visiting the OFFICIAL sites then you will have a clear view on who have sold out and who havent. Chelseas OFFICIAL site have announced that they have NO MATCH TICKETS LEFT, there are some Chelsea fans who are still trying to get tickets but have been turned down by the club as there are NO MATCH TICKETS LEFT.
While Manchester Uniteds official site state that there are still tickets remaining. Again this is their OFFICIAL SITE. So what tripe other sites come up with is irrelevant as the OFFICIAL Manchester United media outlet are saying there are still tickets left.
Which brings us to this article. Why would a reporter have a dig at a club for not selling their tickets when they indeed have. And thats not even the worst part of this article. The worst part is the fact that United are not mentioned at all, despite being the club that hasnt sold out. Now I dont want to accuse anyone of being biased but its clear that the guy that wrote this story is trying to take a real cheap shot at Chelsea.
Will we see an article about United not selling their tickets yet? I doubt that.
15 Upminster Iron // May 13, 2008 at 9:50 am
Chill out Jim mate. What has he said that’s a lie? Read the guy’s comment before you chastise hi! Just cause he’s saying something you don’t want to hear you have a pop - not sure how that makes him a scouser anyway?
16 Upminster Iron // May 13, 2008 at 9:51 am
Maybe the Chelsea website has no tickets left because they sent them back to spare the embarrassment?
17 Needs tickets // May 13, 2008 at 9:56 am
Im a Chelsea fan and I cant find a match ticket. I tried to buy tickets from the club but was told all match tickets were sold out so I find this news strange. Specially as many of my <Chelsea mates has had to buy tickets outside club channels for inflated prices because the club have sold out.
18 Jason Bourne // May 13, 2008 at 10:00 am
Oooh you Chelski fans are so touchy when it comes to money and ticket matters!
Calm it down, you’ll fill the allocation eventually. This whole debacle is down to a shoddy UEFA decision to hold it in Moscow.
19 Aldehulme Red // May 13, 2008 at 10:02 am
For anyone wanting to buy CL final tickets in the Utd end - as of yesterday there were approx 600 remaining, but are only available to official fan club members. They went on sale to ST holders first and any allocation not taken by ST’s are being sold to members only - you will need a valid membership number to buy a ticket.
20 MUFC // May 13, 2008 at 10:02 am
Bullsh1t article. United and Chelski have both sold out their allocations. Its just the media winding up the situation. Although if you look hard enough on football forum’s there are a few popping up for the United end and the Chelski end. Anyways see you in Moscow!!!!
21 What???? // May 13, 2008 at 10:03 am
This better not be true. I was down at the box office on monday to get a ticket but was blown off by Chelsea because they said there are no tickets left and that the allocation was sold out. resorting in me having to spend several hundred more on tickets from touts. Im guessing this is just a angry media hack with hate for Chelsea
22 Iain // May 13, 2008 at 10:08 am
Great story…only problem being that Chelsea allocation is in fact sold out (check official website), as opposed to not being sold out. Just a small point…
23 John // May 13, 2008 at 10:14 am
Its a nonsense article writted for attention and you got it. “Blues fans not keen on witnessing the biggest game in their history”? Are you sure? What do you base that on? I tell you what be a normal fan of United or Chelsea and try getting to Moscow, try find a hotel room, try get a decent priced ticket and try and do it for under a grand. I’m going on a day trip, with a bit of drinking money its likely to set me back £900. The following week its another £700 for season ticket renewal. I’m sure for United fans its no different.
If United and Chelsea dont sell out it wont be because they are not keen and lets face it you could check both Official sites out to know ticket sales are pretty much sold out in both ends. if there are an odd 100 here and there going free well so be it, there will be 40,000 English fans there minimum and credit to both of us for putting up with UEFA not giving a monkeys about fans when picking the location of a European final.
24 Avram Magic // May 13, 2008 at 10:19 am
Come on guys, let’s not pretend we haven’t been worried about not being able to sell out. I’ve just been on a Chelsea forum and there’s a nine-page thread of people worrying we won’t sell our allocation - if our own fans don’t have enough faith in our support, don’t blame the media if they pick up on it too.

Chelsea have sold out and United have not.
Chelsea have a few packages left.
United’s 57000 seasons and 9000 exec box members could not take their alocation so they have beeen put on sale to their 140000 one united members for days: still not sold out.
Even though United pre-sold their tickets before Barec result.
So well done chelsea on selling out, and this comes from a happy Fulhan fan

33 Andy // May 13, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Problem is with United is they only allow season ticket holders or members to apply and the ticket has to be in the name of the person travelling. As United have not had an amnesty for a long time a lot of lads have season tickets in other peoples names. United sold out 3 weeks ago prior to playing Barca but after this came to light tickets were returned, especially as the ticket acts as your Visa.
There is still no clarification whether you can use the ticket if it has someone elses name on it, as a Visa.
United have also messed up with the pricing of their trips as they are significantly more expensive than Chelseas. Im not bothered ill be there and id be surprised if both the ends weren’t full
34 PD // May 13, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Chelsea completely sold out on Sunday.
And their packages have hidden costs.
And only season ticket holders and members could apply.
The tickets have no names on them for visa purposes

You lot are all missing the point… Chelsea gave their tickets back at the weekend. They’ve sold out on the official site becuase they have none left - AFTER they gave them back. UEFA are the ones trying to shift them now

I have paid including flights and hotel about £1500 for the match. Its a disgrace that UEFA should pick this venue maybe Afganistan or Baghdad Stadium may have been a more suitable venue!!!
I dont think the UEFA boys will be slumming it: UEFA are out of touch with reality.

Chelsea returned 5,000 to UEFA and have sold what they kept hold of. Both clubs had to let UEFA know 2 weeks before the game whether they were to take up their full allocation. United have taken theirs and have around 500 left I believe. Chelsea sold all the allocation they decided to keep which I think was around 17,000
47 Dunn // May 15, 2008 at 4:14 pm
How come the Guardian and Independent said they had 3,000 left on Saturday then

This you could see blatantly at the game…i was in the united end and there was a whole section of united fans on the chelsea side.
So chelseaa didnt sell out their allocation…..
United had a few 100 left over …this was down to also taking chelsea tickets on board!!!
