The great season ticket swindle

The Spoiler

For once, feel free to scream, Spurs fans

With all eyes on the Premier League, it’s no surprise that clubs have been raising their ticket prices, but some changes are utterly absurd. Spurs slip down the ladder, and yet their club honchos deem they should be paying MORE for the privilege, while those on the redder side of north London probably need to be millionaires to make every home match of the season. The Spoiler thought it wise to cast a judgmental eye over some of next season’s ticket prices…

Aston Villa (up 7.5 per cent)
Villa had kept their prices frozen for two years, and can just about justify the price upsurge, as the club have moved from 16th to 11th to 6th in that time. Only White Hart Lane has seen more goals this season.

The Spoiler Judge-o-meter says: JUSTIFIED

Portsmouth (up 5 per cent)
They will use their FA Cup win and place in Europe as justification, but Portsmouth have been awful to watch at Fratton Park this season. Everyone remembers the 7-4 win over Reading, but take that away and there have been twenty-seven goals scored in eighteen games - an average of just 1.5 a game.

The Spoiler Judge-o-meter says: WASTE OF MONEY

Manchester United (up 6 per cent)
United fans love a good moan about the Glazers cranking up the season ticket prices year after year, but still expect a new Tevez, Anderson and Nani to come through the door every summer. A reasonable increase for the champions - still cheaper than Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Spoiler Judge-o-meter says: JUSTIFIED

West Ham United (up 4 per cent)

The board insists that the increase is simply in keeping with the rate of inflation. West Ham are one of seven clubs who had no goalless home draws last season, and saw the same number of goals as Arsenal fans. They beat both Manchester United and Liverpool at home.

The Spoiler Judge-o-meter says:
JUSTIFIED

Tottenham Hotspur (up 10.7 per cent)

It could be argued that when your team plummets from 4th to 11th, you shouldn’t be paying more money to see them play. However White Hart Lane broke the record this year for the most goals scored at a ground in a 38-game season. That makes them good entertainment value, but 10.7 percent?

The Spoiler Judge-o-meter says: MASSIVE WASTE OF MONEY

Arsenal (up 2.6 per cent)
The actual rise might be small, but considering that fans are already paying over £1000 for a ticket, it’s pretty unfair to boast about how frugal your manager is, but then expect more money from the punters. Even Chelsea had the decency to freeze their extortionate prices.

You tosser. Arsenal have frozen the prices for three years. This is their first increase which is relatively small and you get secent football. Most seats are below 1k.

utter bollox this article, West Ham justified bwahhhhhhh for what exactly, oh yeah, an increase in shite football. The Gunners are the only team that justifies an increase. Even if we don’t win anything we play the best football and score the best goals.

I bet Arsenal fans moan to one another about the season ticket prices but then if anyone else dares defend them by saying they pay too much they start supporting their club for ripping them off. At least our fans admit our ticket prices are a joke. If you accept increases then they will always get higher.

We have the best ground and the best manager, our supporters would pay double toi see us every week…..well or become Man Utd fans of course, apart from that it is totally justified

You Jokers!!! Been a season ticket holder for 5 yrs now, and I must say its worth every single penny (especially with le boss still in charge). As a gonner supporter I will be the first to admit we need to deliver a trophy but that in no way affects the exciting football we play. Check out the waiting list for season ticket and ask real fans opinions, dont just sit at your desk and type out utterly nonesense and say arsenal season ticket prices are a waste of time.

ARSENAL SEASON TICKETS ARE A WASTE OF TIME

How long can you gooners sit and defend your empty trophy cabinet (forgetting The Emirates Cup) by claiming the best manager and best football are worth it?

Football is a sport. Sport is competitive. Not winning anything in the last few years is no good. Remember that!
