It’s their year, apparently… again
Somehow - no one is quite sure how - Spurs have managed to lure “The New Ronaldinho”, Giovani Dos Santos, away from Barcelona, and from right under the noses of Inter Milan who were looming large, ready to scoop up the young Mexican.
Once again, can we expect big pre-season proclamations about how Arsenal are no longer the best team in North London? Judging by the above clip - complete with sublime eurobeat - they might have a point. For once.

As a lifelong Spurs fan, I feel I should comment on this perceived niaivity on the part of Spurs fans regarding the Big Four and the attempt to breach it - especially in regard to Arsenal.
Before last season began i was very vocal in my opinion that anyone who wrote Arsenal-off was either very foolish or very hopeful. Wenger is a great manager (no matter how I feel about him, personally). He has assembled another excellent young team (at budget), and I actually tipped them for a tilt at the title last season. They play an excellent game which belies th “1 nil to the Arsenal” days, and sometimes all I can do is applaud.
IMHO as stated often before last season, it would be more realistic of Spurs reconstituting a Big Five (which always existed until the Champs League created a Big Four due to the financial rewards accruing to the four qualifiers in the top four position of the Prem.). The best way to do this would be to finish in the top five consistently, uncluding occasionally qualifying for Champs League (not necessarily every year), and picking up the occasional trophy. Last years league position was thereforre a tad disappointing, but given the CC victory, just about passable.
I think Spurs are attracting these players now for the same reasons that Arsenal have - a policy built around promising youth acquisitions and a coach with a wide reputation whom young players wish to play under and improve from the experience.

Good close control and skill like Ronaldinho but with a lot more pace or at least a good turn of pace to get past players. Kind of a bizarre mix of a young Ronaldo with the trickery of Ronaldinho. Still has a long way to go before hes a finished product but in Ramos we trust.

So; so far… it is considered (though no contracts have been signed), that John Bostock, Ricard Dunne and the genius above ‘Gio’, will all be wearing Spurs shirts next season?
Now lets fuck Berbatov off, buy Huntelaar, and Capel (or Quaresma or McGeedy)… and start a challenge for the top 4 and even more silverware!

sean,
in reply to your comments, I to have been a life long spurs fan of over 50 years! get a fucking life and start to support your team rather than talking us down and about the finer point of ar5ena1 and that creep of a prick “I did not see de inceedent” and don”t keep writing like that or we will all suspect that you are a rear admiral. if you think like this either get your act together or piss off to the quiet stadium in n. london.

the only reason spurs are buying players is that the mug levy is paying ridiculous wages for any old shit, ramos is a cardboard cut out in the alan curbishly mould and spurs are a shit club ha ha. fucking disgrace last season with 11 wins in 38 games, no hopers for top 4 especially with jermaine penis as your main man

Excellent!
He’ll settle in nicely with Barcelona striker Eto’o who Sky Sports and everyone else said was joining a Spurs. Oh - wait a minute!
Gio was just quoted as saying he’d love to play for Chelsea so until I see him in a Spurs shirt smiling next to Ramos I’m going to be realistic.
Anyway - must dash - I’ve got to finish reading my letter from Rivaldo!
12 Brooklyn Hotspur // May 30, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Dusty - if a shit club rips you a new one whilst smashing in 5 goals what does that class you?
A polished turd no doubt!
After a poor start to the season Ramos arrived and purchased class acts like Woodgate and Hutton. He won his first trophy within a few months. Now Modric, Bostock and more players are joining. I’d say we were moving forwards!
I’m not going to make any foolish predictions of finishing in a Champions League spot or finishing above Ar5ena1. With players and directors jumping ship and 3 years without a trophy we don’t even need to bother anymore. In fact let’s get some homegrown quotes:
HLEB= ““Titles are the most important thing. You can play very well, perhaps the best ever but after the career you ask what you have won. To win a title is also the most important thing for me. The clock is ticking but it is simply not happening.”
FISZMAN = “If you had asked fans at the start if they would be happy to finish in the top four and within 15 points of Manchester United, they would have taken it.”
Kind of sums up nicely why most Arsenal fans are running around Spurs stories on the web trying to grasp to the last memory of success.
Bye bye now……..shut the door on your way out.

What are you chatting about, i’m not a arsenal fan, im just a passionate spurs hater, i mean your ex manager used Football Manager to scout players, that is just a testiment to how shit spurs are

Well Mr Dos Santos was down at WHL yesterday (friday) so whether it was just talks or a medical the signs are all good !
19 S // May 31, 2008 at 8:01 am
I hate to put a dampner on things but Dos Santos and his representative (Pini Zahavi) have spent the past two days talking to Chelsea.
A deal has been agreed, it is being held up because Chelsea are waiting to unveil the new manager before players.
Ouch.
20 andrew // May 31, 2008 at 8:23 am
great signing, im pretty sure he wont be starting tho as he is a forward rather than a left winger in a 4 4 2. he will become great at spurs as he will eventually become a starter and will be shown love by the fans, unlike ast barca
Now if we get Kameni, Joaquin, David Silva, Gattuso and Huntelaar we will be complete !!
21 chelseaaaaaaaaa // May 31, 2008 at 10:04 am
hahahaha spurs fans never fail to amuse me, loool huntelaar and quaresma hahahah ahhhh boys keep it up you lot are the best to turn to for a couple of laughs
22 TonyS // May 31, 2008 at 10:37 am
I think with vieira/henry/hleb/(please enter name of Arsenal player ) leaving and Spurs signing (rebrov/bent/lennon/jenas/bale/(please enter name of Spurs latest expensive recruit) joining we will definatley beat Arsenal to 4th place this season.
See you in 12 months!!
23 Romans PlayThing!! // Jun 1, 2008 at 1:17 am
What is your bench not full enough!! this dude could’nt breakthru barca’s first team,he won’t play @chelskibore. At spurs he’ll get a chance to grow, EASY choice really!!
24 John Swaine // Jun 1, 2008 at 3:29 pm
@Joko
Yeah but Tottenham spent 60 million quid on shite last summer, Modric and Dos Santos are a rather different proposition.
