FIFA boss claims foreigners in the Prem have harmed the national side
Sepp Blatter - a man whose comments are always informative, cutting edge and universally welcomed among the football community - has claimed the influx of foreign players in the Premier League has weakened the English national side:
“In the strong Premier League teams the best players are not always English.
“These teams are preparing national players for England’s opponents.
“The Premier League has benefited the other countries taking part in the European Championships but not England.”
Blatter’s highly insightful observation may be true, but is an obvious reference to his controversial ‘six-plus-five‘ plan. In a poll last week, 79 per cent of Spoiler readers decided the foreigner-limiting proposal would be akin to his ’silver goal’ rule: a bad idea. In a related story, I will be looking to buy some pastel-shaded shirts this summer, as they really bring out my eyes.
