While his old England buddy, Alan Shearer, actually begins to impress the nation with his ability to repeat exactly what Alan Hansen has just said and still get paid for it, Michael Owen was caught up in a similarly absurd expression of nonchalant wealth.
Striding into Ascot to enjoy a fine day of horse racing, the dinky little striker thought it wise to avoid being spotted by wearing the world’s most snooty outfit. All that was missing was a sharp nosed wife and a concierge. Whatever that is.

I am not a newcastle fan but this is lazy journalism at its finest. A hat is standard attire for any horse TRAINER or BREEDER at royal ascot. Pathetic story and pathetic posts

hmmmm, Alan Hansen only ever talks about defense and Alan Shearer attackers, what glue have you been sniffing today. I agree poor journalism… this is a nothing story if anyone needs to quote an example in the future. This is what horse breeders wear you idiot!

Well well yet another example of ignorant journalism. A top hat is standard attire at Royal Ascot. They have been stressing this point on TV and radio over the past week. Perhaps it would have benefitted you to listen as we may have been spared from reading such drivel. What a total waste of time reading this unadulterated clap trap.

Great story, I had a suit like that once. Did I tell yea abot the time I got the scoop about his mate Alan Shearer! 15M world record, glad to see he is sorting out his contrct. The lads are starting to see Mike Ashley, is a top bloke, but there was a bit of talk around the town, that he was’nt going to put his money in his pocket! There will be some great signings now!

Er… believe it or not, that’s the required dress for all blokes in the Royal enclosure at Ascot. Even the hat. No exceptions. Unbelievable, but there ya go. At least all the blokes look equally twatty.
