Magpies continue to stand by vile waste of blood and organs
Yesterday, Roy Orbison-alike Joey Barton learned that the FA have served him with a fifteen match ban and a whopping fine of two weeks’ wages for the cowardly beating he dished out to former team-mate Ousmane Dabo. After returning from prison for the random attack on a sixteen year old lad (shown above), the FA were hoping that Newcastle would turn their back on their troubled investment, but KK and co have welcomed the disgraced midfielder back with open arms.
In most other professions, dishing out beatings, being over-zealous with cigars and getting banged up for violent crimes would be instant grounds for dismissal.
So, should Joey Barton’s disgusting behaviour have permanently disqualified him from taking home around £57,000 a week for a dream job, or should we be all forgiving and let the reformed little rapscallion have another chance at decking a colleague?

I thought you presented a balanced piece of journalism; strangely though, I voted “Yes”!
2 jason scott // Aug 1, 2008 at 9:49 am
I think this sort of journalism stinks..I do not condone the what Joey has done but he has served his time.
This country and the media is in dire straights, the lad has served his time now leave him alone to get on with playing football.
“a vile waste of blood and organs”,what a load of sensationalist rubbish.
He has not raped an old lady, murdered some kids he has had a few fights..big deal..move on.
3 Ardent Football Fan // Aug 1, 2008 at 10:02 am
How come the incident happened at Man Citeh yet Newcastle United are being blamed? Sven and Citeh are the culprits and the ones that should be lambasted by the media!!! Why didn’t they sack him? Why should a company sack someone for something done whilst at another company? The media need to look up on basic employment rights!!!!!!!
4 Wally McFolly // Aug 1, 2008 at 10:15 am
Fuck off with stupid article you brainless piece of shit!
Lets hope your sordid past catches up with you , you cunt!
5 Davies // Aug 1, 2008 at 10:15 am
Seriously, I think this is lazy, lazy journalism.
Let’s all have a poke at Joey Barton, nobody likes him. Who agrees with me and my pious viewpoint?
As a Newcastle supporter, I don’t like Joey Barton, or any of his antics. I understand that there was uproar when he got a suspended sentance for the Dabo incident and that he deserved to be incarcerated for his vicious attack on some bloke in Liverpool. However, this “article” seems to serve no other purpose than to show everybody just what a righteous and good man it’s author is. You’re not covering any new ground with it are you? Perhaps you have self esteem issues and need approval in your life. Well done.
It is not your place to decide whether Joey Barton is allowed to play football again, and having a poll about it won’t change the outcome. That will be down to the FA, though they seem to have jumped on the bandwagon of piety as well.
I wonder, would the apparent lack of morality on the club’s part in backing Barton be as shocking to you if it was your club that had shelled out nearly £6m for him and weren’t quite ready to flush that quantity of money down the toilet so some other club could swoop in and grab him on a free. Believe me, there would be a club that would take him if it wasn’t going to cost them anything. That’s football, like it or not.
Finally, using phrases like; “vile waste of blood and organs”, does not add any credibility to your skills a s a journailst. It merely serves to highlight your obvious bias and inability to offer any report that would give a balanced view of this situation. I believe that Barton should be punished, but I don’t think he should never be allowed to play again. I make no complaint that Barton’s new club will suffer as a result of his actions when he played for another team, Allerdyce was fully versed with the baggage that came with this player when he signed him.
Please do everybody a favour; learn to write a proper unbiased article like a proper journalist. This will stand you in good stead for when you find some real news to report.

Tongue-in-cheek journalism guys. Get a life. If you want humourless safe articles stick to the beeb. Geez.
7 Chad Sexington // Aug 1, 2008 at 10:28 am
Newcastle fans being sensitive about one of their players? I am truly shocked.
You need to calm down guys, I’m with Gaz.
And Barton IS a waste of blood and organs and he definitely doesn’t deserve the charmed life of a Prem player.
8 Jason Scott // Aug 1, 2008 at 11:19 am
Gaz this is not tongue in cheek journalism..it is an over hyped personal attack on somebody that happend to get into a fight and served his time.
He has not killed anyone worse things happen everyday in our filthy chav ridden cities, you actually watch the news?
Your brand of so called tongue in cheek journalism is nothing but misguided bile.
Leave Joey alone he has been punished enough.

What a load of balls!!
Honestly, guys we are all aware that the internet is a vessel for free speech but all this artice goes to prove is that the author is a total tool.
Barton is a thug, no doubt, but the incidents happened at Man City not Newcastle (to be fair he wouldn’t last 5 mins in a scrap on the quayside) He should be given one chance and one chance only at newcastle. Step out of line once and out the door he goes.
If he performs on the pitch, like the real football fan knows he can do, then he has just as much right to pull on the black and white jersey as the next man. Its up to him to prove he wants to play for the club and stay out of trouble.
P.S. Author, you are a total, total tool!!! Probably a Makem too.
11 honest abe // Aug 1, 2008 at 11:43 am
Once again a load of people rushing to knock this site. YET, YOU STILL FUCKING READ IT.
Morons.
Barton is a thug. Simple as. He’s a TERRIBLE role model. That alone should be why he gets a fitting punishment.
The saddest thing in this whole sorry affair, is that Newcastle don’t have the appeal to attact good players if they need to rely on this chav fuck.
12 Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 11:55 am
First of all,if I wasn’t a Newcastle supporter-I would want him banned… from playing football ever again! But then, for me the time to have taken such action was lost- long gone. He has served his time, by the courts of this land! We may disagree with the sentence he recieved-but what is done is done! I can’t belive the PFA have acted now! When they should have acted, when he was an employee of Man City! But now the PFA (I assume) will have to look at the Wayne Rooney situation.
13 Gaz // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Jason, your sympathy for thugs and anger at websites who do not share your sympathy is bemusing to say the least.
Abe is perfectly correct, the man is a thug. To defend him by comparing him to more violent criminals is twisted logic indeed. And no he did not kill anyone but he easily could have. Kicking and punching unconscious individuals who are unable to defend themselves could easily result in death.
It is defendants of these serial thugs such as yourself who are helping destroy out judicial system and allow these idiots to continue practising their violence after a few weeks of incarceration. Well done sir.
14 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:45 pm
What are people mentioning Man City during this discussion ? We managed to sell the ‘vile waste of blood and organs chav cunt’ to the barcodes for 5.5m …. nice doing business with you !!!!!
15 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:49 pm
Give over Gaz you rightous prick….. this article is absolute gash!!!
It is written because Newcastle haven’t been in the news this summer so the lesser journalists need something to highlight which is negative about the club!!!
Saying he is a bad role model is true, but who is a good role model nowadays? pete dohety? Christian Bale? Britney Spears? Amy Winehouse? Prince fucking Harry? no non of them are!!
Fucking grow up and get over it, i for one have been in a few fights and have never been locked up for it. I have been glassed by thugs also, big deal….. get over it and move on.
the lad has done his time!!!!
Maybe instead of this vomit, if you want to write about Newcastle you could comment on: Bassong signing? lack of signings? obas dedication to come back to training a week after his mother has died? Tournament in Mallorca??? or would the above be too constructive to write about!!
16 DA // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:52 pm
Absolutely agree, he should have been sacked - by Man City, but instead of showing some morals they let greed take over and cashed in on the thug for as much as they could get.
I also think he should be banned from ever playing again - after all, if one of these pious holier than thou journalists broke the law, I’m sure they would expect to be banned from ever working in journalism again….. wouldn’t they?
17 Jason Scott // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Gaz I am not saying what he done was right, what I am saying is this type of hyped journalism is out of order.
We all know that Joey is a liability we knew that when we bought him..this incident took place over 15 months ago at another club for god’s sake.
You need to grow up and face the fact that this poor excuse for journalism is nothing but over hyped baloney on the back of a media brainwashing bandwagon.
With regards Abe I only visited this site to voice my opinion on Joey Barton..nothing on here interests me in a word it STINKS !
18 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:00 pm
Jimmy Mac your so hard !!!!! I bet you look like the elephant man after all those fights and being glassed … you might of got over it but I bet your leg hasn’t for a while looking like that !!!!! .. Silly Cunt !!!!! I bet even bartob could take you !!!!!
19 Gaz // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Okay okay, I’ll take the site seriously, I am obviously missing the point…
Is it any coincidence by the way that the only people defending Joey Barton are Newcastle fans? No bias there then…
20 Leo // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:04 pm
seems like its shoot newcastle down week to me
its not newcastles fault that joey barton hit dabo is it, so we should not have to pay the penalty for what he did, he has already been into jail for his crimes why should be not be allowed to play football
i can give an example of worse footballers, even our past defencive star jonathan woodgate partakes in the sniffing of the white stuff, which is worse? which crime is more suiting to punishment? the drug industry isnt part of the ‘fight club mindset’ its of the shoot to kill
amount of people killed through drugs compared to fights, i bet there is a sizeable differents.
there is not just jonathan woodgate who has done this there are many others.
21 Leo // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Gaz we are not defending just joey barton, we are defending our club, the articles about joey barton are in a desitory fashion with endless attempts to kick our club while its down

23 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Another Dave……. it nice to see you picked up the constructive points of my post! well done!!
Its not my fault if some scouse chavs go out looking for fights on night outs, they didnt even get kicked out the club never mind locked up for 74days!! i dont go out looking for fights etc, but will protect my gf and friends if necessary!! if that leads you to associate me with the elephant man then so be it!! Barton could probably “take” becasue i am not a fighter…..although i may bend that rule if i ever bumped into you, you fucking tool!!!
I am defending both Barton and the club, Barton because he has served his time and the club because we have done jack all wrong!!!
24 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:22 pm
He’s done his time !?!?! How many times has he done his time is the problem. Would you be of the same opinion if he beat up a teenage member of your family ???? Pric !! The question is do you want him at your club ? Exactly now fuck off !
25 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:30 pm
lol loving the anger issues! you sure your not a lil scouse chav!??!? :)!!! no it wouldnt be the same opinion if he beat up my family, im not going to lie, and i probably wouldnt defend him if he didnt play for Newcastle, but he didnt and he does, so i will!!
Yes i want him at our club, he is a qualtiy player!!! Just as I am sure Man Utd fans would have wanted Cantona in their team after he publically assaulted a random supporter!
i dont understand your comment “How many times has he done his time is the problem.” You are making no sense……. are you sure you didnt write this gash article!?!?!?
why so angry??? :):):):)
26 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Like you’re ever going to bump into me you idiot, you know that’s not likely so why even mention it ? .. maybe that’s why you did mention it !! Being involved in fights is totally different to being a bully 1) On the field with a ref and the media to protect you, not an alleyway with nowhere to go, 2) Having an argument with somebody but then waiting for them to turn around before you punch/attack them and 3) Attacking a (drunken) teenager on a night out when you outnumber him and his friends by quite a few.. have you seen the footage ? By the way you had no constructive points by all means defend your club but if you defend barton you’re the fucking tool !!! I still can’t get over the bending of your rule comment …. pure comedy !!
27 Martin // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Yawn, this is so fuckin tedious now!
The article was gash! From an unbiassed observer’s point of view it was lazy ‘jump on the bandwaggon’ bollocks!
I don’t like Barton, I didn’t want us to sign him in the first place…BUT…Why did no-one que up at the journalistic stockades to throw all their rotting wanky-arsed excuses for articles at Man City when the incident occurred? Why are we the bad-guys when they made money off the ‘waste of blood and organs’…
You can write what you fucking like about Barton, I couldn’t give a shit, in my oppinion he betrayed the fan’s as soon as he came out in the press calling us ‘vicious’ because Sam Allardyce was a shit manager! BUT I think it is a disgrace that you automatically lump Keegan and our club together with him for an incident that happend before we were even linked to the lad!
Get off your moral highhorse and try doing a bit of ballanced, intelligent journalism - I’m sure it’ll be far more rewarding!
28 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:43 pm
you tried your best to keep the anger inside with that post, well done.
My Constructive points would include other topics to write about!!!
so……. is cantona a bully? did he not deserve a second chance?
Im glad my posts are comedy, at least it’s entertaining you i suppose.
Barton did do all the above but he has been punished for it, as i say 74days is alot more than alot of people get for fights!! it doesnt make it right, but everyone knows the law is a joke, and in comparison to some sentences 74days is quite significant!!
I await your “calm” reply haha!!
Couldnt make it up, the most angry aggressive person on here is arguing how bad it is to give an aggressive person a second chance!!!
Tickles me!!! lololololololol!!!
29 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:46 pm
Good Post Martin!! i think alot of Bartons comments last year helped the fans.
Atmosphere at st james was dying a bit, i think what he did provoked quite a postive response from the geordie faithful!!!
Cant wait for the new season!!! looking forward to watching the match tonight too!! you get a point for every goal, if that doesnt promote attacking football, what will eh???
30 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:47 pm
“The first day’s the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in, hand you your uniform and force you to pose for the photographer while loads of fat, tattooed, skinheads shout abuse at you. That’s when you know it’s for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye.
Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it. That’s when it hits home. That’s when you realise you’ve signed for Newcastle.”
I thought I’d keep it comedy … angry, aggressive me … never !!
31 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:51 pm
lol, very calm!! impressive, perhaps you could recommend your anger ally to Mr Barton, good joke btw, but could be used for any club so pretty uncreative!!
You’re boring me now, so good luck and bye!!!
32 Gaz // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:55 pm
Jimmy, I can see you’re a true fan but you shouldn’t really defend a thug simply because he plays for your team. Would you defend Hitler if he was a magpie? Harold Shipman? Where do you draw the line? And yes I know they’re both dead but they’d still score no less than ’striker’ Alan Smith.
Barry George is available on a free I hear.

Barry George would be a step up from Smith and Shola!! :)
id draw the line at anything worse than fight. knife attacks, rape, murder, Definatly Apartheid!! death by drink driving etc, my point is that the only difference from Barton and any other charv on merseyside is that he earns stupid money!! and got caught on camera! i am not defending what he did in the slightest, or his character. he is no doubt a scumbag. but at least he is getting help and admits he has a problem, better than most!!
he is a product of his youth, as simple as that!!
Im glad he has been given a 2nd chance, why sack a £6million player and allow the likes of Bolton or Wigan to snap him up for free and be totally void of any criticism!?!?!?
Shipman, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini……….not quite the same as Barton!!!
PS no one is commenting on the point i raised about Cantona!??!?!?!
36 Leo // Aug 1, 2008 at 2:07 pm
cantona did worse than what joey barton did, they call barton calous and a coward but cantona jump kicked a member of the crowd when they werent expecting it, wasnt it a young lad too?????????
37 JImmy Mac // Aug 1, 2008 at 2:11 pm
its ok tho, he played for a different United!!
38 Another Dave // Aug 1, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Wow still going on about Cantona, who are the little angry ones with the pent up aggression :-) Why would Bolton or Wigan be void of any criticism ? They’d get hammered for taking him on aswell !! and back to Cantona he kicked out at an aggressive fan who was racially abusing him and he was the one outnumbered not the other way around !! Let’s just stop now, we seem to be gettin nowhere with the numpties. He should be the geordie captain and sent to disneyland with king kev the messiah for rehab. Anyway I’m quite looking forward to the smith barton kick off next season, it’s got to be more entertaining than dyer - bowyer. What IS going on with your massive club !!

45 Sveinung // Aug 1, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Are some of you having a laugh?
This discussion is pointless, and I’m actually going to waste some time, explaining why.
To start off, of course Joey Barton’s a thug and he’s done terrible things. That is a point even his closest family and friends would not disagree on.
On the other hand, in this discussion it doesn’t really matter how full of flaws the law seems to be. Joey Barton has served his time according to the law, do you think he should have begged to be punished more. As an other reader commented 74 days for fighting is quite significant.
I am afraid that further punishment, which is compleatly inapropriate, because Joey’s already served his time, could have severe consequences for him as person.
There are times when people show bravery. Barton’s showing bravery these days by getting help after admitting that he actually needs help. When you’ve come as far as admitting you’ve been wrong - then you truely deserve a new chance. I’m glad he got a new chance, and hopefully that chance will be what he needs to turn things around for himself.
Somebody was saying something like: “would you still have the same opinion if he had attacked someone in your family?” No, probably not, but does it change anything? The law is what it is, and he has according to it served his time.
When it comes to all the attacks on Newcastle United - well it has been like that for a long time now. It remains unclear to me why, but it seems that many people have developed some sort of need to kick the club when it is already down. There are a lot of positive things going on at the club now, but no one seem to be interested in writing about that. People claim that is lack of moral at the club, by not giving Barton the sack. The assults he has been charged for happened quite a while a go in a different club. There is absolutely no reason why Newcastle should be punished for that. It was a clever move of Manchester City to sell the thug, but if that is to be the question, who’s lacking moral?
Now, I really do hope that at least some of you have after reading this understood why this discussion is pointless.
Last thing, I’d advice the writer to read this so-called article he or she has written in… Let’s say five years. I think you will agree that is not very well written at all.
46 honest abe // Aug 1, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Wow… shit really hit the fan.
But theres two clear points that no one can disagree on:
1 - Barton is a thug. When a wild dog attacks a child, how many chances do we give it before its put down? ONE. Barton’s had at least 4 or 5 chances by now to prove people wrong. This isn’t Newcastles fault. This isn’t Manchester City’s fault. IT’S JOEY BARTONS FAULT FOR NOT HAVING SELF CONTROLL.
2- I think Newcastle will suffer for standing by him. Theres talk of a 15 game ban for something he did as a City player. Thats extremely harsh on Newcastle, but what can the FA do? they can’t let it go unpunished. Another point is that Newcastle will suffer to attract CERTAIN players. Not all. But some will see Barton and refuse to go. Mikel Silvest already refused a move to Newcastle because of this. I know its only Silvest, but what happens if the next player put off joining Newcastle because of Barton is someone like Henry?
47 Sam H // Aug 4, 2008 at 11:10 am
Mutu was pretty much immediately released by chelsea when convicted of dabbling with some sort of magic white powder….why is it not so hard for people to deal with Barton the same way? I say people so as not to just point the finger at Newcastle….
although you might argue that what mutu did was worse, the only person he was harming was himself…..
at the end of the day, knowing what football is like, Barton will probably turn up and have a class year and play good football. then all of a sudden we forget his past….until he does something stupid again.
as far as i’m concerned the message that this guy give some kids who are aspiring to be pro footballers is that it doesn’t really matter what you do wrong, you will still be earning the big bucks. you can do what you want, you can get away with it, and you can still earn more than your average annual wage in a week.
as far as i’m concerned, that’s a good enough reason to just tear up his contract.
if a city worker decided that one day he will just batter the guy sitting next to him because he say, slurps his coffee, then it is pretty much guaranteed that within the week his contract would have been torn up and he would be sent on his bike. gross misconduct or something like that.
and I don’t care that he has served his time already….no one is saying that he should go back to prison, just lose his job.
48 freddyfreddy // Aug 4, 2008 at 11:16 am
@ Sveinung ….do you really really truly honestly think that the best word you can use to describe Barton is “brave”?
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME
the guy earns a flippin fortune a week, he has been convicted on several occasions for being violent and you think he is brave.
try saying that to an orphan in a developing country who just about scrapes by every week to survive. who doesn’t know where the next meal is coming from. that is brave.
if that happened to a lot of people in this country, they would probably just chuck in the towel.
brave my arse
