Ex-con is a highly sought after commodity, apparently
Last week, Spoiler readers voted that Joey Barton should never be allowed to play football again, a decision that probably would have been unanimous save for the loyal Newcastle supporters who have been put in the troubling position of having to defend the malicious young Orbison-alike.
Unfortunately, Newcastle have had little choice but to stand by their £5.8m investment, but people with a vague sense of morality were shocked to learn that up to three other clubs were waiting in the wings to snap him up if King Kev decided not to expose the rest of his squad to grievous bodily harm. So who were these clubs?
The Spoiler believes they may have been Bolton (Megson said it was a pleasure to work with Anelka and will generally take anyone he can get), Sunderland (they just signed El-Hadji Diouf so no one is off limits), Blackburn (Paul Ince used to work for Franchise FC, so he clearly has no conscience) and perhaps West Ham (who were challenging Newcastle for his signature last summer).
Anyone else have any ideas? Let us know below…

What club would be stupid to infect themself with this rotten apple?
Once again, Two points I think no one can disagree on.
But theres two clear points that no one can disagree on:
1 - Barton is a thug. When a wild dog attacks a child, how many chances do we give it before its put down? ONE. Barton’s had at least 4 or 5 chances by now to prove people wrong. This isn’t Newcastles fault. This isn’t Manchester City’s fault. IT’S JOEY BARTONS FAULT FOR NOT HAVING SELF CONTROLL.
2- I think Newcastle will suffer for standing by him. Theres talk of a 15 game ban for something he did as a City player. Thats extremely harsh on Newcastle, but what can the FA do? they can’t let it go unpunished. Another point is that Newcastle will suffer to attract CERTAIN players. Not all. But some will see Barton and refuse to go. Mikel Silvest already refused a move to Newcastle because of this. I know its only Silvest, but what happens if the next player put off joining Newcastle because of Barton is someone like Henry?
