Today’s gossip rumours and damned lies
Sir Alex Ferguson is still refusing to rule out a move for Barcelona flop Thierry Henry, despite his comments in April that “Arsenal are the only English club” for him. Dimitar Berbatov still appears a more likely arrival, so perhaps the Thierry talk is Ferguson’s way of testing Spurs’ resistance.
Elsewhere in transferland…
Didier Drogba to stay
After spending a few weeks mulling things over while desperately waiting for phone calls from Barcelona and Milan, Drogba has kindly decided that it would be nice to continue playing for the club who pay his wages.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Nobody wants him so he has no choice
Justin Hoyte to Middlesbrough
Boro sent their chief international scout to watch Hoyte in the Amsterdam Tournament this weekend. Considering Arsenal play at least 40 games a season in England, it’s convenient that the scout chose to watch a match that allows him a free trip to Holland.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: Finnan may be a safer option if the price is right
Allan McGregor to Newcastle
Despite Shay Given being one of the league’s best goalkeepers and Steve Harper one of the most underrated, either Kevin Keegan, Dennis Wise or someone else based in London has decided it would be a good idea to waste £5 million on Rangers keeper McGregor.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: There are other areas that should be greater priorities
Jimmy Bullard to Aston Villa
Bullard is upset that Fulham aren’t offering him a new contract, a decision that may be based on the fact he’s only started 20 games in two years. Aston Villa are thought to be considering further bolstering their alternative England squad by signing him.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: It could depend on whether Barry stays

As a United fan, I can say without hesitation I would love Henry to join united. He was one of Arsenals best ever players, and even though he is past his peak, he’s still better than most.
I very much doubt he’d come to united though, he clearly loves Arsenal. If he’s marriage situtation was different, he probably never would have left.

Guardiola has already said that Henry is part of his plans for next season and that Eto can leave.
I can’t see Henry coming.

You have more chance of kicking the Queen in the head than getting Thierry Henry.
