Boring men in red set for a dull weekend…
Only a smidgen into the new season and already Liverpool have morphed into the Chelsea of old, pummeling their way to cruel unappealing victories. This, of course, means that they will definitely win the league whilst simultaneously turning the entire world off the idea of watching a football match for fun. That said, our pals at Chickendinner are convinced that they won’t be winning ugly at Villa this weekend, that’s for damn sure. Here’s why:

1. Two of the last three league meetings between the sides have ended all square, including their most recent contest, a 2-2 draw at Anfield in January.
2. In the last five seasons, Liverpool have only twice managed to win at Villa Park, having been held on the three other occasions.
3. Not since 1994/95 have Liverpool begun a Premier League campaign with three successive wins. Rafa’s men won at Sunderland before sealing a dramatic 2-1 win at home to Middlesbrough.
4. Liverpool were held thirteen times last season, seven of which were on the road. No Premier League side recorded more league draws.
5. In four of the last five seasons, Aston Villa have avoided defeat in their opening two home games.

Agreed!! The title should read ‘Five reasons why Aston Villa can’t beat Liverpool’. Can you explain what does ‘Aston Villa have failed to win any of their last thirteen league contests with Liverpool, losing eight and drawing five’ means. Bloodly idiot!

Five reasons why Liverpool CAN beat Aston Villa:
1. Villa are crap
2. Villa failed to win 1 of the last 13 against them.
3. All villa’s signings are other clubs rejects
4. Barry will be wishing he was at Liverpool
5. If Stoke can beat Villa anyone can!!!!!!

Villa fan here, I think I agree with my namesake!
Doesn’t exactly say why we can beat Liverpool. I think it’s possible, but not from what this article says!

King Torres is a dick!
If we’re crap, then why did Barry decide to stay at us rather than go to you?
You’ve been lucky in all your games with late fluky winners!
You’ll be lucky to be in the top 4 this season as you’ve had to sell loads, just to buy Keane who doesn’t look like he’s going to score any goals this season!
You’re on the way out - you’ll be fooked when Gerrard retires!

It’s merely pointing out that Villa can’t win either. Calm down!

Luke M from your response I can tell if you were a fish you would have several hooks in your mouth.
Gareth Barry did not choose to stay lets get this straight. He made an announcement saying he would stay once everyones interest in him was dropped. If Villa had accepted a realistic bid he would of been straight off. Just as your manager would if a top4 club came in for him.
Now come on get angry again!!!!

To all disillusioned fans on here I.E Luke / Rick ‘The Prick’ Parry, the article makes no sense as only 2 games have gone by! To claim we are playing chelsea of old style football is just silly. People claim that its all flukey victories, but whats so flukey about Gerrard controlling a side footed shot into the top corner against Middlesborough? Its not like a lampard style and it hit of a defender and went it? Another thing, Liverpool perceived to be SO boring, and yet We are responsible for some of the greatest finals of all time in recent years: 1)Champions league 2)Fa cup 3)Uefa Cup? Please look at the facts before making erratic comments.

Okay why does the phrase lies damn lies and statistics come to mind, the past is never really that relevant once you cross the white line. Personally I think we’ve been shocking so far but we’ve got mission acomplished, 2 wins and through to the CL groups, have Villa been much better? Stoke 3 Villa 2 answers my question. It will be intense, if ever there’s one you want to win be it Villa or Liverpool this would be near the top cause of the Barry saga oand the bad blood that has come out of it. Luke M seriously mate good 1st post but get your head read about your 2nd post. The facts with Barry are this you wanted 18 mill we said no we won’t pay that you said right he doesn’t go. Fair enough but how has Barry turned down anyone? Let’s see if he signs a new deal, his agent says talks will not take place before the spring of 2009, erm wonder why that is NOT. Barry will be away if a CL team is in for him next year unless Villa make the CL whic is unlikely. This you’re finished routine would be insulting if it weren’t so funny, when was the last time you finished above us? What we’ve forgotten would be enough to make you weep with envy, so grow up and stop being a prat. I’ll offer you the same bet I offered on 606 yesterday to Villa fans, if Villa finish above Liverpool this season I’ll give £20 to the charity of your choice provided you give £10 to the charity of my choice (MS society) if Liverpool finish above you. To date not one of you lot has taken it e-mail me at Bergerfan@btinternet.com if you want to take it on
