Berbatov’s national teammate nets from fifty yards

Literally tens of people packed out Bulgaria’s Ticha Stadium to see last week’s UEFA Cup game between Cherno More Varna and Maccabi Netanya, and they were treated to a spectacular strike by defender Aleksandar Aleksandrov. You can call him Alex for short.

Fuck me that ground’s empty. Didn’t know they were playing at The Riverside?

I was there…on vacation in Sofia. Alex played was more of an offensive midfielder who moves around the field as he wishes.

The stadium was empty partly because the Bulgarian team was from Varna, 5 hours from Sofia. They had to play in the national stadium because their home stadium does not meet UEFA requirements for hosting a game.
