Is the Liverpool honcho running out of ideas?
The small news resting alongside all the big news in yesterday’s tabloids was that Liverpool and Villa are going to go toe-to-toe in January to bag Emile Heskey - the man who caused more than a few brows to furrow when he was bought by the Merseyside club for a then-record £11 million in 2000. This time, he’d cost around £3 million, which looks like decent value for the resurgent England man.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time Benitez has gone after an old face, having given Robbie Fowler a second chomp at the cherry a couple of years ago, but why on earth would Heskey want to return to Anfield? With Keane and Torres bossing the front two spots, it would surely just make for another frustrating spell. Last time he had to suffer the total humiliation of falling behind Baros in the club pecking order. Villa would make much more sense.

breaking news… liverpool will go head-to-head with villa for any old rubbish from now on just to drive up the price because they’re still pissed about barry and look like they will be for the near future. remember the milner transfer? exact same thing.
