Two more club legends are given the boot
While Mike Ashley released his lengthy statement attempting to dissuade Newcastle fans from further protests against the club’s management structure, two more former players were following Kevin Keegan out of St James’ Park.
Record goalscorer Alan Shearer was removed from his position as the club’s sporting ambassador, a role he took up after retiring in May 2006, with reports claiming that the Newcastle board were furious with the Match of the Day pundit for calling the management structure “dangerous”.
Former defender John Beresford, who played under Keegan in the 1990s was also axed from his corporate hospitality match-day role after making critical comments in the local media.
Are the Newcastle board right to ship out former players who have the best interests of the club at heart because they refuse to toe the party line? Let us know with a comment below.

I can understand that Mike Ashley is top dog at Newcastle and that those employed by him should toe the line but surely ousting Keegan and Shearer can’t be good for business. What’s he going to do next, have a pop at Jackie Milburn?
