And it seems that their main guy has a mancrush on Keegs…
Jonathan Cleland, the face of the South African company looking to have a crack at buying Newcastle, has been hanging out in Shearer’s Bar and talking to the Newcastle Chronicle - he is now “80 per cent” confident that the club is his.
Ticking all the right boxes, Cleland told the Chronicle that Keegan will be the man at the helm if he has way.
“I have been a great Keegan fan all of my life, right from being a teenager, when I supported Liverpool. Back in South Africa, I would see him with his perm scoring these magnificent goals and I became a big fan and followed his career to Newcastle.”
Apparently he has already spoken to his childhood pin-up, and Keegs was well up for the job, noting that they shared a “good chemistry”. So that’s great news. Kinnear the guttermouth out, Keegan back in. Equilibrium restored. Bosh!
Let’s all celebrate down at Shearer’s Bar with a Surf n Turf - which, incidentally, consists of steak and SCAMPI, as opposed to the more traditional prawn.
