Crocked West Ham striker camps it up

Morning, campers. Did you sleep well? If so, spare a thought for poor old Craig Bellamy who probably spent the night in a tent. A couple of words beginning and ending with the letter t spring to mind at the though of the West Ham striker, but until now tent was not one of them.

The Welshman has had an altitude tent installed in his home to help overcome his constant injury troubles. While The Spoiler cannot condone a 29-year-old man spending every night of his life in a tent (is that how Michael Jackson started?), Bellamy seems convinced that he is prolonging his career. He said:

“I sleep at altitude every night. I’ve got my own tent and everything. It’s supposed to speed up your recovery. It helps your endurance, helps your speed - it makes you a fitter athlete. So we’ll see in time.”

There are a few people in football who would suggest that Bellamy deserves to spend his nights alone in a confined space, but I am not sure an altitude tent is what they had in mind.
