City offer Fernando Torres £200,000 a week

Fernando Torres linked with Manchester City
With Manchester City’s weary troops already complaining that they need reinforcements, the club’s Arab owners are set to oblige with another cheeky offer for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. The Mirror reports that City would happily make the Spaniard the Premier League’s best paid player on a nice little weekly pay packet of £200,000.

As unlikely as that seems - Torres himself has reportedly made it clear to City that he is happy at Anfield - it could prove to be a very good piece of business if City did pull it off. All the talk this week has been about a Premier League salary cap. So convince the best striker in the league to sign a £200,000 a week deal and turn around a few months later and tell him he is on £50,000 a week. “Sorry, Nando, the salary cap has come into effect. Nothing we can do.”

Talk of an incoming salary cap could actually drive wages up in the short-term. That’s irony, folks.

sorry to spoil it for you lad but this will never happen!
it looks like that at some point everyone will be ‘owned’ by rich interests and that will restore the status quo. i think that its worth pointing out that just having money will not turn city into liverpool; winning the euro millions roll-over wouldn`t suddenly make you mates with pop stars and royalty and the pecking order will remain the same with our brand and cache always more attractive than chavs with money

redscouse… so you make the decisions, right? I think not. I believe you have two Americans that are using L’pool to finance there love of American sports. If a big enough amount was offered, they would snap City’s hand off. Nothin to do with Love, Loyalty, or Footbal, but a huge amount to do with business you muppet

Bluenose. I hope you’ve been very shrewd in your investments. If you’ve been following the news lately you’ll note that there’s likely to be a lot more people all over the country saying giz a job pretty soon - and not just in Liverpool. You sound like a brainy and well grounded chap so no doubt you’ll thrive. But I hope all your money’s in an Icelandic bank and that your pension plan is fucked you smug biggoted tw*t.

Guys this is a hoax anyway. City didn’t approach Torres at all , this is just the media trying to stir shit again.

Sorry but as a City fan I don’t believe this. Don’t get me wrong, Torres is quality (as I saw on Sunday) but he won’t want to leave Liverpool, and City need to shore up their defence and midfield rather get another forward.

Redscouse, as a City fan I like Liverpool if only because they have a better history than United, I remember them in the 8Os and have affection for them then as well so I have no agenda here.

Liverpool need to wake up, they are not in the top four because there is no top four there is a top three then Liverpool. With teams like City and Villa likely to take your champions league place and really challenge the top three what will happen to Liverpool. No champions league no champions league money and teams like City regulary in the champions league Liverpool will soon be forgotten as they have to some extent already the focus is all about United Chelsea and Arsenal
