Charismatic Newcastle striker presents a gong to rubbish band
The MTV Europe Awards were held in Liverpool last night, so it would have made good sense for an Anfield star to come and present an award. The best they could muster was a former Anfield star (and rumoured future Stamford Bridge star), whose enthusiastic personality really set the arena on fire.
Looking rather dapper in a dark suit and open shirt, Michael Owen helped Anastacia (perhaps the only popstar shorter than him?) present an award to never-heard-of-them German emo rockers Tokio Hotel, who were deemed a better headline act than Metallica, The Foo Fighters and The Cure by the discerning viewers of MTV.

You can cast any judgement you like on Tokio Hotel. However, ‘never-heard-of-them’ just says ‘I’m very ignorant’, and therefore you should lay off making comments of a musical nature.
I can’t say that I’ve consciously ever listened to a track of theirs, I do however know that they are ABSOLUTELY HUGE in Europe, headlining stadia and selling by the containerload, leaving teenge girls sore-throated with screaming. Maybe this explains why the ‘discerning viewers of MTV Europe’ voted for them rather than, say, tired English band The Cure, who haven’t made a great album since, well, ever come to think of it, and certainly who reached their expiry date at around the same time that everyone considered that smeared lipstick on fat unshaven blokes was an ungood idea.

Nicolas, do you play bass or the drums in Tokio Hotel? I can’t think of any other reason why someone would stick up for them.

Hey! You try putting lipstick on before you’ve had a shave and after a big night on the cakes. Rock stardom ain’t no walk in the country, sweetie.
