The latest gossip, rumours and damned lies from the world of football…
Andrei Arshavin to Real Madrid
Zenit boss Dick Advocaat claims Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos has been interested in his forward Arshavin for a long time, and would have been at Tottenham this season if the board didn’t kick up such a fuss about his price. Advocaat has also stated his belief that Arshavin would do well in Madrid.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: If Ramos can convince the Real Madrid money men that Arshavin can change their fortunes a deal is likely.
Amr Zaki to Chelsea
Chelsea boss Scolari needs more firepower in attack to compete with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka for a place up front. Zaki has impressed while on loan at Wigan although Chelsea would certainly face competition from Dave Whelan and co for a permanent deal.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: It is probable Zaki will secure a permanent deal with an English club by the end of next summer - with Chelsea interested, Wigan should worry about their chances of keeping their top scorer.
Stephen Warnock to Spurs
The Mirror reports Harry Redknapp is keen for a left back in January with Warnock top of the list. While he would provide competition to Benoit Assou-Ekotto, it could spell the end for Gareth Bale, who is reportedly being watched by both Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Spoiler Truth-o-meter: ‘Arry could well bid for Warnock, who is valued at £5 million. Although he still hasn’t won a league game with Spurs, Redknapp would be foolish to let the teenager go if he is rated by Rafa Benetiz and Sir Alex Ferguson. Maybe the Welshman will be utilized in future in midfield.
