Former manager blames his downfall on the money men

Juande Ramos at Real Madrid

Having won five consecutive league games (and not six, as The Sun suggests), Juande Ramos appears to have reacquainted himself with success after leaping from the sinking SS Tottenham.

He gave the club its worst ever league start this season, but believes the problems were not his fault - they stemmed from Daniel Levy’s overwhelming desire to make Spurs a profitable enterprise:

“The club sold Berbatov and Keane and everything went down. They preferred money ahead of competitiveness.”

Ramos watched the north Londoners rake in more than £50m for Berbs and Keane, and was left with the terrifying prospect of relying on Darren Bent for goals. After his sacking, the Spurs party line was that Ramos asked for the stroppy Bulgarian to be sold, but clearly the Spaniard does not believe this is the case.

So, are Tottenham’s current woes down to the Ramos’ ineptitude, or Levy’s greed? Perhaps a deadly cocktail of the two? Let us know what you think with a comment below…
