The Ginger Mourinho fights back against the Bolton boo-boys
Gary Megson has questioned the intelligence of the fans who abused him when Bolton blew a 2-0 lead at Blackburn yesterday and labelled them “pathetic”.
The Spoiler defended Megson’s record when he was criticised earlier this season but supporters have again turned on their “Ginger Mourinho” after a run of one league win in eight. Megson, who won manager of the month just two months ago, issued this defence:
“Will I ever win them (the boo-boys) over? No, no chance. I took this club further than it’s ever been in Europe, I kept them up after having five points from 10 games, I’ve taken the wage bill down. I haven’t spent a lot of money in doing that. I think it works out at £2.5m. Others have spent around £90m. If your face doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit. You have to accept that.”
The last time serious protests were held against Megson was last April after they dropped back into the bottom three but the boo-boys were left with egg on their faces when a five match unbeaten run carried them to safety.
Is the Bolton boss unfairly targeted despite doing a good job because he lives in Sam Allardyce’s shadow or would the Trotters be doing better with someone else at the helm? Let us know what you think with a vote and comment below:

Please try and defend his record now…
Last 9, won 1 drawn 1 lost 7.
We went 450+ consecutive minutes without scoring until last night.
We were knocked out of the Carling Cup by NORTHAMPTON.
HALF our points came in November, when Megson was on the wire, just like…
Last season we picked up 11 points from the LAST 15 available but looked dead until then.
Truth is Megson can only get the players to play when we need a good run to get us out of the mire.
We have scored the least goals at home this season (only 8) despite splashing £10m on a new record signing striker who has missed more games through injury than he has played.
We have a captain who doesn’t deserve to wear the shirt nevermind the armband. He was spineless against Blackburn and we hadn’t missed him while he was suspended.
How many goals has Nolan this season ? 0
How many booking ? 10 !
On top of all this, the football is absolutely dire. Once we finally managed to get the ball in the next we let Blackburn come at us and didn’t have a shot on target in the 2nd half.
I should mention the disgusting treatment of the UEFA Cup when we reached the last 16.
2 times we have chanted “Megson you’re a wanker” and both times it was because he doesn’t have a clue what was going on. How can he justify his salary and bonus (he received a 6 figure sum for keeping us up last season) when there are people who have lost there jobs and football is the only thing keeping them going.
Typical Megson. West Brom, Forest, Blackpool and Norwich fans all agree with me.

Forgot to say this is Gary “I only had 4 subs on the bench against” Arsenal. Is it that he can’t count or does he not know the rules ?

Forest fan here. We were hopeless under Mugson. He just shouts and screams at people and we played terrible football when he was in charge. I remember games when we barely had a single shot at goal - in divison 3 aswell!
I can’t believe anyone gave him a job after we sacked him.

Not familiar about the Boo-boys. But I can say that for some fans, it will never be good enough. It’s like working hard to give your woman a Prada handbag. Later in the week she joins a picket demanding a Versace bag.

Ulrik. We don’t ask for much us Bolton fans. All we want is someone who can understand what is going happening on the pitch and be bothered to make a sub or change the tactics accordingly. We don’t expect to win our games, we just don’t expect to throw games away like the Blackburn one, or last season when we were beating Arseanal 2-0 after 60 minutes and they had 10 men but we imploded to lose 3-2.
Or when we are struggling to score at home to the likes of West Brom, we play with only one striker.
Phil Brown, Owen Coyle or Mixu Paatelainen. All the fans would get behind any of them.

Bolton have been patchy under Megson - good start, rubbish run, great escape, poor start to season, great November and now struggling but they are six places better off than when he arrived without spending much and should be safe again whereas they were heading down with Sammy Lee.
As an outsider (who was there on the day of the stupid protests last season) I think he’s hard done by. Even if for whatever reason you don’t like him, I don’t see what you gain from calling him a w*nker.
Pear, my club went on a run of one win in twelve not long ago (and lost to Watford in the Carling Cup) but everyone kept faith in Zola and Clarke and now we’re playing better than I have ever seen us play. Maybe my Megson support stems from the fact you’ve played us three times under him, winning two, drawing one and beating us again in a few weeks though!

Pear, sorry to spoil your argument but for most sane WBA fans Megson is still a hero. Took us from facing relgation in The Championship to the Premiership. The difference between the club now and then is huge and that is due to him doing what a succession of other managers hadn’t been able to do: get promotion to the Premier league. Twice.
