Liverpool have recovered from their last four Premier League defeats to win their next game. Sunderland learnt of their bouncebackability the hard way last season, when Rafael Benitez’s side followed up a 1-0 loss at West Ham with a 3-0 victory over the Black Cats at Anfield.

Will the Reds bounce back again? Here’s the vital statistics, thanks to the chaps at chickendinner:

» Liverpool have won just two of their last eight domestic home games.

» However, Benitez’s side have won their last five encounters with Sunderland whilst shutting them out on each occasion. The hosts are 5/4 with Ladbrokes to win to nil tonight.

» Sunderland are unbeaten in four Premier League matches, which is their longest run without a top-flight loss since November 2002. The fourth match of that run saw them grab a goalless draw at Anfield.

» Last season under Roy Keane, the Black Cats lost all ten of their games against sides in the top five. They have improved slightly in this campaign with two draws against Arsenal but they have still lost their other five to date.

» The Wearsiders were catastrophic away from home last season, losing fourteen times (74%) and losing just twice but they have improved drastically this season. Ricky Sbragia’s side have lost just five of their thirteen on the road (38%).

» However, Liverpool have now gone over a year without losing at home. Their last defeat came in the FA Cup against Barnsley last February while you have to go back to December 2007 for their last league loss at Anfield, when Manchester United beat them 1-0.

» Just one of Liverpool’s last eleven matches has featured over 2.5 goals. Unfortunately the bookies are wise to that but Ladbrokes and Bet365 still offer 4/5 on two or less goals being scored.
