The Citizens distance themselves from Messi/Maradona rumours
Earlier this week The Spoiler published a story from the Spanish press where Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim was quoted as saying that he wanted to work with Lionel Messi and thought Diego Maradona should be the president of a football club.
As Al Fahim was heavily involved in Manchester City’s takeover this was widely perceived as a suggestion that he wanted to see both men unite at Eastlands. However, the Citizens have moved quickly to distance themselves from the speculation, confirming in an official statement on their website that Al Fahim “holds no position at the Club”.
There was no confirmation of whether or not Al Fahim has any involvement with the owners on a consultancy basis. If he does then it seems strange that he would make comments so at odds with City’s party line. If not, then how does he intend to “work with Messi soon”?

perhaps your article was just speculation and there were no facts to speak of?

brilliant brilliant journolism
maybe as a journolist you could have done this research before making up the sensasionalist headline, para-phrasing his quotes and printing bullsh1t
even now ur making urself look like an idiot, because his quotes claim that he is looking to buy a football club himself in europe and do not make reference to manchester city at all

You City fans always used to be a good bunch from my experiences but the money and increased publicity seems to have made you all paranoid and irrationally angry.
Where in this article does the “journolist” use a sensationalist headline, paraphrase quotes and print bullshit? Just like my team’s manager, I don’t see it!

“Manchester City’s owner targets Messi and Maradona”
was the title of the original article. For starters he isnt the owner, and linking 2 of the worlds biggest names in football is sensasionalist
In the original article, the “journolist” used half of the quotes from the full inetrview to suit his “story”. the interview later goes on to state that his interest is in buying another club in europe, smaller than manchester city
Seen as non of the facts used were true, the article was bullsh1t
i think we have a right to be paranoid seen as 90% of the stories printed in the press in the last few months are bullsh1t and serve no other purpose than to unsettle the club, players and fans and to wind people up. (bellamy & robinho wont talk to each other, brazilians wont play for our manager, we are reportedly interested in preparing bids for Ronaldo, Fabregas, Gerrard, Messi, Wenger, Bilic, Mourinho… i could go on)
and starting to get sick af having to defend my club to morons who believe every word of it

Did I imagine it or did Robinho not say recently that Bellamy got the hump with him for not passing to him when he was in space?
Anyway, I still don’t understand the logic in using a new article to moan about an old article. Surely that’s like complaining to your new owners about season ticket prices that were set by Shinawatra?

correct. Bellamy and Robinho have both admitted, in quotes, that they had an exchange of views in the dressing room after the portsmouth game. But it was reported in the press as a furious bust-up and that they weren`t even talking to each other!
now even if that were true, which it isn`t, its just sensasionalist reporting intended to unsettle the club and players. i hate half the people i work with, doesn`t mean i do my job any less affectvly
my argument with this article was, despite the fact the author acknowledges that Al Fahim holds no position at the club, he still trys to link him with some imaginary consultency role in the last paragraph! even tho his interview clearly states they were regarding a completely seperate club
