Meanwhile, Mr B realises he forgot to put wax in his hair
Frankly, Anglo-American relations could not be any worse than they are right now. Not only is David Beckham doing everything he can to escape from LA, but we’ve offloaded Jordan and her dunce husband Peter Andre on California, and we even seem to have rid ourselves of Madonna at America’s expense.
In light of these unfair celebrity transatlantic transfers, manager-who-sounds-like-a-stadium Bruce Arena wants Beckham to be blocked from playing any England friendlies when he is made to go back to LA Galaxy in the summer. He said:
“I’ll ask for David not be called up. It’s not necessary for him to be there for a friendly and I’ll contact the FA.
“David’s happy to come back - and his addition will be positive for us.”
Quite understandably, LA Galaxy are trying to get the most out of the little time they have left with Beckham, and hence aren’t willing to let him leave the US for friendlies against Holland on 12 August and Slovenia on September 5. But the news won’t sit well with Mr B, who came back to Europe with the sole intention of staying in contention for a place at World Cup 2010.
