No it’s not Emmanuel Adebayor, it’s this man…
Stan Collymore has started a one man mission to convince the world that Nicklas Bendtner is going to become a top quality striker.
Anyone who tuned in to talkSPORT on Saturday evening will have heard the former Liverpool striker condemn the nasty Arsenal fans for a barracking that never actually took place. Indeed The Spoiler’s booing expert watched the game in eager anticipation of some top quality jeering and was left disappointed as the majority of supporters instead got behind the Dane after every miss, chanting “Super Nicklas Bendtner”.
The controversial pundit wasn’t prepared to end his campaign there though and today named the striker “Hero of the Weekend” in his Daily Mirror column, as well as launching another attack on Gunners fans for their treatment of him and general poor support.
Our booing correspondent thought that Bendtner was one of Arsenal’s best players in the first-half on Saturday but no matter how effective some of his build-up play was, nobody who misses numerous gilt-edged chances can rationally be labelled the player of the weekend.
The Spoiler is eagerly awaiting Stan’s next column though, when he will probably tell us that Arsenal would be top of the Premier League right now if they had kept Bendtner on the pitch for every minute of every game.

Wow, here’s something I never thought I would say: I love Stan Collymore!

Hi spoiler,
Just a couple of points.
The notion that you cannot be man of the match because one misses several chances is probably the most ludicrous thing i have ever heard, and is probably the reason why you pen an anonymous “football” blog.
Ask some of your Guardian experts who have played whether you can be man of the match, having missed chances, and im sure you will get short shrift.
As for the barracking,i will happily find a full match video showing Arsenal fans in front of my view point(above the dugout) baracking Bendtner, and the huge ironic cheer on his substitution.
I look forward to your reply.

bendtner wasn’t booed that badly on saturday, in fact they cheered him at some points during the match…
But more importantly, Collymoore has got to be one of the biggest douche’s in football today. His inconsistent views and random attacks on players and clubs in farsicle.

I like Bendtner and I agree with Stan that anyone who has played the game at a decent level will recognise his natural talent. Some of his link-up play was excellent - and finishing can be worked on. He is only 20 years of age; is Walcott the finished article yet?
However, it’s hard not to be affected by the collective (and perfectly understandable) “Noooooo!” of 55,000 people when you miss for the fourth time in three minutes.
Some fans were barracking the player, but most weren’t (in fact in my view the “Super Nik” stuff piped up as a majority reaction to the jeering).
Also, Eboue was booed because he didn’t try, constantly overreacted and completely failed to show any pride in the shirt. That is not the case with Bendtner.
Remember that even Henry was a bit rubbish when he arrived; Wenger saw the spark of talent and turned him into the player we all watched with awe.
And come on Spoiler, a cheap shot at Stanley.

I’m just listening to the man from the Spoiler being ripped to shreds by Stan on TalkSport just now. The poor guy doesn’t stand a chance.
Fairly takes me back a few years.

Totally agree with Stan, They guy from the spoiler on Talksport now has no response to Stans questions and is talking noncence about not being fan if you have played the game. The whole article about a one man band is a joke and these people who write these articles without playing the game should take morew time to consider whet they are posting before writing rubbish!

Stan Collymore, bulshy overpowering reaction. Talksport is about debate, that involves letting others speak and answer questions before you fire another at them. A joke, Stan sit back and listen to Ian Wright, great opinion, honest well considered and shows class……something you could do with. As for Nik Bendtner, has potential but your reaction this weekend was well away from an accurate illustration.

Stan made the Spoiler boy sound foolish. The guy barely made a clear or coherent point and had no answer. Granted Stan didn’t always let him finish - but his basic argument was ridiculous. How can a professional footballer not be a fan as well. What a muppet.

He is not the only one. As a gunners supporter, I support the whole squad. I always think Bendtner will be a great striker. He is only 21, the talent is there, it’s all up to him now. Best of Luck Bendtner!!!

I’m confused.
Why is the flash-in-the-pan actor from Basic Instinct 2’s opinion on football so important again?
And how can i trust him? I’m sure at one point he was Ulrika’s number 1 fan too.
I keep hearing “Bendner’s young, give him a chance”. Well, so is Dos Santos (Spurs), and i don’t remember the sympathies being rolled out for him as he was loaned to Ipswich after a short stint in Spurs’ first team in which he scored some fantastic goals.
In fact, I’m going to go ahead and say, striker for striker, I’d rather Dos Santos than Bendtface. And Dos Santos is younger too.
He also doesn’t wear pink boots.
I’m pretty sure Adebayor likes him more than Bendtface too. How do you think he got that lump on his nose?? HAHA

i reckon mr doggymore over there has a few issues with rejection. is it perhaps because he was rejected everywhere due to being an immense arse? i am sure it is so. dont worry stan im sure they wont be rejected as you were as im sure they arent as much of a muppet as you were/are.
