Manchester Utd/Porto, UCL Quarter-final 1st leg, 7.45pm, ITV1
Alex Ferguson couldn’t really have asked for a better draw in the Champions League, and equally, Porto couldn’t have asked for a worse one. But who will make the Red Devils starting lineup at Old Trafford tonight?
Here’s our selection:
O’Shea Vidic Evans Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Park
Rooney Macheda
We’ve thrown in a curveball by in the form of bloke-you’d-never-heard-of-last-week Federico Macheda. We think he may start ahead of Carlos Tevez, who may be wheezing from Sunday’s match and the ill-fated high altitude international match in Bolivia.
Let us know your thoughts by adding your preferred lineup in the comments section below…

macheda isn’t really a curve-ball. phelan said post-match that they’re grooming him to be the new berbatov as they’re similar. so since berba plays in front of tevez, why shouldn’t mini-him.

can we risk pairing macheda with rooney in a champion’s league must win game just because he got the winner on sunday? no way.he is good but let’s stick with rooney/tevez. they are proven.

I’ve got to agree with dan. Not to take anything away from the boy, he’s good and will continue to get better. But just because he had a dream debut and was the toast of the town THAT night doesn’t mean that he’s ready to be a regular on the squad just yet (and STARTING?). I think it’d be more reasonable to play him in the next leg if a “predictable” United win is actually the end result tonight. But then again, a similar argument could have been made against Bojan last season.

Forget Macheda, I hope Man U play a whole team of kids tonight.
And lose.

This will be Tevez’s 3rd game in under a week including flying half way across the world and back.
SAF’s hand has been forced. Tevez isn’t good at the best of times. A tired Tevez will be dog awful.
Kiko gets the start.
