The latest transfer gossip, rumours and damned lies
Andres Iniesta to Manchester City
Those who didn’t spend the Bank Holiday weekend in the company of tabloid newspapers may have missed the News of the World’s latest Manchester City scoop. Apparently, Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta is on the hit list, and the opening bid is likely to be around £35m.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: City will almost certainly bag a “box office signing” in the summer break, but the contract that keeps Iniesta at the Nou Camp until 2014 might be a stumbling block.
Tom Huddlestone and Gareth Bale to Fulham
Tom Huddlestone has been letting the world know he is unhappy about slipping down ‘Arry’s pecking order of late (”I am not young any more; I need to be playing week-in and week-out”), and admits he may leave White hart Lane in the summer. The Daily Express report that Fulham are interested, and the West Londoners will also inquire after the services of Gareth Bale.
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: This wouldn’t be the first time Fulham have chased Huddlestone, but are they sure they want Gareth Bale in their starting XI? Don’t they like winning league games?
David Villa to stay at Valencia
El Guaje’s loyalty to his club is something to be admired. Despite links to numerous Premier League sides, David Villa insists he will be staying in Valencia. He told anxious fans: “Not only will you see me in September, but you’ll be seeing me for the next six years.”
The Spoiler truth-o-meter: If Valencia’s financial dire straits are as serious as the speculation suggests, Villa’s future may not be in his own hands.

Andres Iniesta to Manchester City for 35 mill?
Well, I didn’t know players came with all of their savings accounts, houses, plus their firstborns in the transfer packets nowadays.
35 million pounds…now they’ll say Albert Riera is a hell of a player and is going to be paid a bucket of gold by Liverp…ups…must be the Rafa effect.

Iniesta costs much more than that, and why he’d leave Champions League football for a mediocre club who hardly make it to UEFA Cup anyway?

Come on fish, Iniesta worth more than two rags?
Could it be the “Pavon’s so great that we’ll put him next to Zidane just ’cause he’s spanish” effect talking?…
Or is it the beer talking?

If you watch Barcelona games for the past 3-4 seasons you’ll see that his ability is on par with Pirlo, and greater than that of Fabregas. His partnership with Xavi is key for the Barca team so why would they want to break it up and let the player leave for a relatively small fee?
They can afford to buy a right-back for 30m Euros something unheard of for English teams, so they’d be looking for a substantial sum for their key player. But it is a tabloid talk anyways, Iniesta wouldn’t swap glory for struggle
