Chelsea/Liverpool, Champions League QF 2nd leg, 7.45pm, ITV1
It looks like Guus Hiddink may stick with the team that started the first-leg besides bringing in Ricardo Carvalho for suspended captain John Terry. That strategy makes sense but with Liverpool likely to go on the offensive, The Spoiler would make a slightly defensive tweak by bringing in John Obi Mikel for Michael Ballack and playing a Rafa-esque 4-2-3-1:

Every time I read Michael Lintorn’s name I can hear that journeyman Stan Collymore saying it out loud in his twattish accent.

Drogba - Anelka
-Ballack-
Malouda-Lampard
-Mikel-
Cole-Carvalho-Alex-Essien
-Cech-
Ballack as the CAM atop a diamond midfield up by the strikers and have Mikel as the CDM. Play Molouda as LM, Lampard as RM, but have them play narrow more in the center of the midfield than towards the touchlines. Have Essien and Cole as wingbacks playing wide along the touchlines and moving up in support. Carvahlo and Alex are the centerbacks.
When Ballack is played as a CAM, he has the ability to provide and score goals better than any midfielder in the game. This is the most effective squad and formation for Chelsea: 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond midfield).
